The next batches made should be cheap.

 

And gas should be $.75 and diesel $.68. Good luck with the cheap lead. When the lead was reclaimed in Tucson, the price was $.63.

 

When i was in the business you could take the price/lb. X 25 and add$1 and that was truck load price. The shot market never really followed the price when lead went down. I used to buy truck loads, pay for them in advance, locking in the price, and then take delivery as i needed it. Drop in lead price very seldom found it's way into the retail market as most dealers had shot on hand at the higher price. Nice thought but probably not be worth much. Gud luk

 

Shot will never be cheap again as long as all that lead is going to make millions of batteries.

 

Shot has not gone down anywhere. If it were to go to $30.00 a bag it would be great to go pick some up. If you have to get it shipped the price is still a killer. I do a road trip and a particular shoot every year around Easter and get my shot then. Hopefully we get to see it come down.

 

When a lot of us started it was $4.25 a bag and if you bought 4 bags it was $4.00 a bag.

Anytime someone reminds me of that I tell them,

Yeah, well Dinosaurs used to walk around in California too, when was the last time you saw one of them?

There are a couple of guys on here that COULD answer that question.

 

Seem to remember a shot that was made in Mexico that came in a plastic bag with a wire tie that was around $2.50 per bag. Think Gene Sears was tied up in it. Was so soft you could almost chew it. Some reason the name Hawk rings a bell.

 

I remember 1968 $4.00 per 25#

 

$35.00 a bag on the east coast, far cry from .75 cents a pound!!

 

Down to $33.a bag in PA.+ Tax around $35.

 

Back some years ago when shot went up to 40 dollars a bag and lead was $1.25 a pound a very big recycling company in Defiance Ohio was paying 11 cents a pound for scrap lead. They would not sell it to the public though. Think about that

 

today price for 25# of 8 shot=...............58 bucks a bag

 

How times have changed I remember that $4.00 bag of shot. and today I am spending 95 cents per shot,.43 cents for the bird and 53 cents for the shell how time have changed.

 

But back then median household income between 1967 and 1968 was $7,700 while today it's somewhere in the range from $81k to $87k. And today's income numbers don't include the more generous social security payments adjusted for inflation.

 

in the 90's it was 7 to 9.00 a bag. it was doable. not now.
and like I say, the whole industry has us all marching to their drum...and we are all stupid enough to do it.
