I think if it was a pigeon grade it would have 3 diamonds on the bottom of the forearm

 

This is not a pigeon grade and NOT a Y serial

 

I have my father's model 12 pigeon grade, it has a pigeon stamped underneath where the magazine meets the receiver right above the serial number.

Early Winchester's always had very nice wood!

This M12 should be put to the use it was deigned for; shoot! Like most shotguns, buying for investment gain and storing in the safe usually results in meager or even negative gains year's later The enjoyment in the use of this "perfect repeater" will trump any minor monetary gain in the future by not shooting it.
