I'm looking for someone to strip, repair, and refinish a stock. I'm working on getting a Perazzi TM1 refinished. The stock is in rough shape with dents, some oil staining, and a small crack. I would like to have this stock refinished rather than buy new because this gun was purchased new by my wife's grandfather and passed down to her. I can post pictures if anyone is interested in doing this service.
The glue residue is from a stick on palm swell. I'm not for sure if the stock is even refinishable. I don't want to sink more into refinishing then a new stock would cost.
Joe Goldberg in New Jersey did a fantastic job on my old MX8 Perazzi. He took a piece of a tree looked like and turned it into a gold mine of wood. In addition he also cut the stock and made it into an adjustable comb for me. He is just a great guy. If you want his phone number I will e-mail it to you. Just let me know. I can also include pics of my wood he did for me. TRW369
I blued the receiver and iron, gold the trigger, and rebuilt the top one. I rebuilt and finished the wood on the bottom one. The 3200 was just a refinish job. The blued gun was pretty pitted up. Yours at least looks pretty good as far as pits from what I can see. The wood looks like it will need some work, but could be salvaged from this view.
S/F: I am jealous of the wood on your 3200. Remington gave me 4 3200 Competitions back in the 70's or 80's, and like a fool when I was done with them, instead of paying the $450 each, I sent them all back. The guy who took over Gene Porter's job as the Midwest Manager out of KC, MO for RAC, was a jerk, and I shipped them back to him. He was shocked I did, and years later I was shocked that I did it too! Kinda let some anger get in the way of a good deal, but they gave me 11 guns in all. Whiz
Yes, they put some really nice wood on the trap 3200's as standard. Even some of the 90-T's had some nice wood on them, though not quite as high grade when it came to consistency throughout the blank like the above 3200. Who did the engraving on your TM?
A gentleman who has become a good and close friend. He is Howard Simon in IL. He is a retired Ford Motor Company Machining Division honcho who got hurt on a machine and took a retirement. He has some health issues but never complains. I have to draw out of him how he's getting along. We talk often. Howard is also getting Matt Bartholow of locale here and an All American shooter into engraving. Howard recently sent me a photo of both he and Matt, wearing one of my Perazzi custom hats while at the national engraving convention in LV, I think it was. He's a helluva great guy, is way, way too cheap. I've been telling him he needs to charge more, but he says it's like my business; a labor of love.
Thanks, I figured that's who it was. I seen some photos from the Shot Show of what you describe. Nice to see someone carrying on the talent and means, after Bill Mains passing.
Howard want another one of my TM's to do some gold inlays. I think I need to sell the above TM1 first. Need to get $3200 out of it. Whiz
I can be reached at Stockmaker12@gmail.com Joe goldberg. You are looking at between $300 to 500 depending on how much checkering is still left.
