Is it time to bring back the shell houses? Remember the days when there was a shell house and we all had to buy our shells on site? Is it time to return to that? Is the roll your own idea working?
No. I feel that will add to the cost to the shooters, who are barely getting by now. Re=loading is a great savings compared to $90.00 per Flat for Premium Shells. The Roll Your Own for the Average shooters allows them to Enter the Events, actually more Event. GB...........................................DLS
I think if a guy shops around he can probably find reasonable prices for factory shells as cheap or cheaper than reloading. Of course that doesn't count the premium shells. I get emails weekly from several wholesale ammunition dealers and with Cabelas or Bass Pro and of course Wal-Mart (I personallydon't shop there) a fellow can pick up shells as cheap as $50/ $55 a flat. What's it cost to reload a box / flat? Factor in the time also. I don't know what your time is worth but mine is pretty expensive
The ATA relaxed the new shell rule because they were not set up to sell ammo in the State of Illinois, not as a favor to the members ... Now, the shooters have gotten accustomed to being able to shoot re pops at a marginal savings and they like it , so if the ATA were to revert back to all new shells there would more than likely be a problem ... I just bought some new shells for $60.50 per flat delivered so the over all savings is not a big deal any more ... I have 65 flats of New Handicap loads in the garage for when I go back and start shooting again ... The new shells would give a lot of shooters a reason to cut back and or quit shooting if the prices were out of line ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
