I just won a new in the box 1974 Winchester Model 12Y Trap Gun. I have a noumber of O/U's and a few S/S's. I am going to shoot the gun in doubles trap (should be a lot of fun) Has anybody shot a Model 12 in doubles or any other "Pump" gun in double trap? If so, please give me a few tips. Carry On
Your new pump is quite up to the doubles task! The only issue might be the stamina needed to go a 100 rounds. Take some time and dial into making both shots smooth and to the target. The first shot will let your hull fly the second can be put in your pouch if you reload. Pumps are lots of fun and not that hard to get a handle on~~~Enjoy. Eddie
I have shot doubles with a Model 12 many times, its a lot of fun ... I do not usually shoot singles or doubles but the ol' Model 12 will grind them if I do my job and point it right ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
I shot some Doubles with the Model 12 over the weekend. Definitely fun. It is all fun with a Model 12.
Just out of respect, when discussing this subject someone must mention Rudy Etchen. Rudy Etchen. -Gary
Yep, first name I thought of. When some of the guys started talking about just having fun shooting them I figured Rudy was kinda not in that group. Of course I assume that being the first to run 100 in doubles at the Grand in 1950 WAS a lot of fun for him. I believe he did it again 32 years later at a club in LA. He was on a whole different level than the rest of us. Flyersarebest
Thanks for all the good input. I will shot my "Pump" gun and my S/S's , and give the O/U's a rest. I am now 75 years old and the "Pump" guns take me back to the time when that was about all we had. Carry On
