Having reached the age where my Shotgun Toy Chest is Full, I still get the itch to buy stuff (bought and sold 2 shotguns this year and have 1 more to sell). I have 5 sets of colors of the Big Beretta glasses and they are fine. Been looking at Ranger Falcon Pro’s , but many guys recommend the Pillas over Ranger. Should I>>>>> 1. Do Nothing - as this too shall pass 2. Sell the Berettas or put them in a closet and buy a higher end set of Shooting Glasses. 3. If you answered yes to #2 Rangers or Pillas?
(3) If you feel you have to have something new, glasses are most practical. I bought the Ranger Edge glasses and have been very satisfied with their performance. They came with three sets of lenses, and a very sturdy case.
All 3. 1. Do nothing now until you are able to get to a venue and try both of these on and view the field, see how they fit, and compare / contrast the two to make the best choice for you. 2. Depends on how #1 works out. 3. See #2. I'm with K-80 on the Ranger Edge glasses which I picked up after #1 above at the State Shoot.
Depends on your age, and vision condition. If you have to wear Rx glasses, then a lot more comes into the equation of what is good for you for what is available. If you have great vision, and the money, buy a new set of what you want and keep the others for spare. If you really like the new ones, then sell or give the old glasses to a young financially challenged shooter.
I opted to do nothing. Went to the Ranger Showroom in MA to try on the Falcon Pros. If I did not already own the Berettas I would buy them. Yes they are a bit better in clarity, but I don’t think they will add any X’s to the scoresheet.
I had great L+M glasses then went to Pilla. The Zeiss glass is without a doubt the best out there. Expensive but fantastic. Like refle shooting, optics is most important feature to good shooting.
I have had and use Decot for over 30 years, have spare frames and never needed them ... I have 12 sets of lenses so I figure I am ready for just about anything, plus an additional pair of Hi Def Specs ( great for driving ) ... You can pay more but its not worth it ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
That is a tough question. The answer is both yes and no. Both make several different types of frames and different size frames in each type. You can interchange some of the lenses but Decot may call it a 65mm and Ranger may call it a 66mm or something like that. You almost have to try the lenses to see if they fit. I have 2 pairs of Decot's and one pair of Rangers and the ones I have do interchange, but I do have one set of lenses that fits better in the Decots.
I need prescription shooting glasses. Have used Decot's for decades. They sometimes hurt my ears. YRMV
I have Rangers, Post4, and now Castellani’s. All are really great optics and offer numerous lense color options for any and all shooting conditions. The Pillas are widely considered the best by many, and they are wildly popular these days, but they are the most expensive options by a huge margin. If money is no object, check out the Pillas with Aaron Willoughby or LM optical. I chose the Castellani’s for the wrap around lense style, similar to the Pillas, at 1/3 the price, and I am very happy with them.
Ask Mike at L & M lens about Trivex lens materiak that is supposed to be about 20 % clearer than the normal ones. Everyone that tried them are really impressed with them.
I have the Ranger Falcon Pro and they are good but prone to fogging. Color selection and cost are pluses, fit is comfortable.
I have always used Decot, was a dealer for them at one time so I have every color they have, even use the clear on occasion ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
try increasing the radius where they fit behind the ears. Sounds like they are too tight. also make sure your hat is not pressing down on the frame. gud luk.
I've done both of those things, without much relief. Thanks for the suggestion, though, I appreciate it.
I bought the pilla;s and although they are a little pricey but they are great ! I also have post 4, and decot, but the pilla;s are by far the best I've had! It's hard to break em when you can't see em.
