Why wasn't the PA System used to notify shooters of the Beginning of the singles, and when second 100 was to begin, I spoke to all coaches I could find and asked, they said the PA system has not been used. GB.................................DLS
Doc, Did it actually make a difference, there not being a need would be the best reason for the PA system not being used ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
I In-advertenly posted a long Thread on my Reply to Just Joe, and he is re posting it here where I should have posted it, so be on the look out for it Gary Bryant......................................Dr.longshot
A lot of shooters look upon a PM system as an Interruption while shooting. Management will many times avoid using the PA unless all shooters are in. Even with earplugs you can hear it.
The PA system was very badly needed, there were so many teams, and their positions were changed so many times, How do I know this, The Federal Hocking team was changed 3 times, the parents, the shooters and the coaches were in the dark all the time, there was not a system in place, Dan Shock I believe was in charge, I believe there should have been a list of Banks for the specific teams, Federal Hocking was originally supposed to shoot early, they did not finsh 1st 100 until 1:38pm, I was told that part of the Problem was RJ Stewart, don't quote me on that, I heard the same from 3 different Teams Coaches, Federal Hocking 's Category was changed twice Monday Morning, and the Coach and Team were besides themselves w/mis-information. This was not the fault of Jack Fishburn. Using the PA System would have been a blessing notifying all teams, Coaches and Parents, Grand Parents that wanted to watch their Kids, and Grandkids. I believe there was 4 or 5 Team Categories, Novice, on up by expierence. A system w/ categories should have already been in place, and it wasn't. Teams should have already had BANKS ASSIGNED, they weren't. Coaches were all confused, where I was on BANK 9, with coaches from 3 other teams shaking their heads. I will volunteer to help Dan Shock if he would ask and offer some advice and Planning in the future. If scores were recorded by RJ Stewart, he should do just that. They would be TEAM SCORES, with Scores by Team Mates, this could be multiple squads, depending on SIZE. This is easy, but made complicated by meddling of RJ STUART, from what I was told. Scores should have been posted on the scoreboard on Sheets w/team Names and Contestants. Prizes were given to Federal Hocking shooters but Coach Scott was not told aboutm them. Those prizes could have been announced over the PA System and where to pick them up. PA Microphone was across from scoreboard where shootoffs are prepared. Gary when I was on the osta board the SCTP director for Ohio ran the SCTP shoot off the books of Bubba. He wouldn't make it to the Ohio State shoot until the wee hours of Monday because of his coming from the Pa shoot. Also when I was the TD for any shoot at the Cardinal we did not call out late shooters or late squads. The girls that run the line new what to do and the office gave them the info over the radio. The Pa should just be for emergency use in my opinion and since I was the TD my opinion mattered. Brad
The Announcement could /should have been made on the Changes, on the PA System Before the Shoot Started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Girls on the Line this year were Un-informed, they could not answer on the changes on Categories or Re-assignments on Starting Traps. Parents and Grandparents did not know what Traps were assigned so they could be there, Lucky they had Cell Phones so the Coaches could tell them. Maybe they needed you for TD this year on the SCTP Shoot Brad. I wish you were there and could see what I mean was happening. It seemed to be TOTAL MIS-Information Last Minute Changes from what was told to Coaches Prior to Start of Shoot. From The Total Entries Shoot Should have been Completed by 3:00pm-4:00pm at the latest. WHY COULDN'T SCORES BE POSTED AT THE SCOREBOARD BY TEAMS? If the SCTP's Shot v5 System was used, everything would have been easily looked up online. Squads, Banks, Categories, Awards...
Roger, You are absolutely correct. If I'm not mistaken, the program is free to the gun club and then surcharge of $1.00 per shooter to use. The system is the best and I don't understand why clubs won't use it.
There is no fee... I believe that was waved a few years ago. We use it for the PA Trap, Skeet and Sporting SCTP State Shoots. I also use it for a small PEN-MAR Skeet shoot we have. When setup correctly it works perfectly.
To all I need to make a correction, RJ Stuart was not there yet and was not involved, The Problem was NEWBIE SCTP coaches not following instructions By Dave Shock in the meeting of the morning of the shoot on Monday, They Coaches should reviewed the Computer Program that SCTP bought ShotV5 system Update on winni9ng team was the CENTERBURG TEAM 1st place with high 900 score, and Federal Hocking placed 4th with a 600+score. I am sorry for this inconvience, They should have announced for the First 6 Bank Squads get ready and 15 minutes later say First Squads take the line. And 2nd Announcement for the start of the 2nd 100 shooters get ready, then 15 minutes later to take the line. There was a drawing for DOOR PRIZES and Winners List was posted.
