The person on station 5 calls for his target. At the same time the person on station one calls for a target. The bird breaks but the shooter on 2 says the shooter on one broke the target. The shooter on 5 says he broke it. The shooter on one is not sure and 3 and 4 shooters are asking what happened. What is the rule?
9118, Here is a link to the ATA Rule book. http://www.shootata.com/Portals/0/pdf/ata_rulebook_web.pdf Assuming they both fired. VII E 5. No Target. Page 30 of the current online ATA rule book. 5. When two (2) contestants fire at the same target. It is assumed in the story that both shot at the target. Do you derive something else?
Both shooters fired at that target. jhunts posted the rule from our rulebook concerning "no target" with how it comes about. Hence, no target, rightful shooters turn again regardless if one or both broke it. FAB, that can't be and follow our own shooting rules. HAP
I know the feeling FAB, I had a buddy shoot my target out of turn. After the commotion and explanations were over, I didn't ask to see another clay and promptly missed my next one out! That one would have given me the high score in caps that day instead of a tie! The Calcutta cash would have come mighty handy too! I filed that situation in my data processor for a "next" time that happens too! HAP
I shot with the same fellows all the time when I shot my 100,000 singles target I was on position 5, I called for the target, shot and the target just disenergrated, the other 4 were laughing they had all shot with me after we all settled down and I composed myself I was lucky enough to shoot and break the next target. But what are good friends for if not to have a little fun.
I pay a guy on one to shoot at any bird I miss when I'm on five. Haven't missed a bird from five all summer. lol
