I have been shooting red dot with 18.6 grains 1 oz of #8 shot and spolar wad cheddite primer. I am wondering if the load by everones standards is too hot
What's a good starting point for a low recoil 1 oz load with Cheddite primers and Red Dot or Titewad in 12 gauge? Using Gun Clubs or AA hulls. 1100-1150 fps at the most.
I load 19grns of Red Dot, Win primers, cb 1100-12, 1oz of #8 magnum. Me and my wife shoot this load for everything
hulk, 19 grains of red dot should have about 1300fps and 10,100 psi.........How is the recoil ? acceptable?? is it like a nitro load???
I’m shooting 7/8 12 gauge using grey Claybuster wad and 17.2 grains of Redot. It breaks them great at 16. Works great on skeet too.
One of my friends recently purchased a new Browning A400. It will NOT cycle anything approximating what might be considered a "light" load. He has fired about 8 boxes of factory new 3 dram shells and they will cycle the gun and was told he just needs to shoot so,e more factory shells too "break in" the gun. He reloads 700X exclusively for the 12 ga. He's tried using up to 16.5 grains and the gun still won't function correctly. I have loaded up the following for him: 19.5 grs of Red Dot Claybuster wad Win 209 primer Remington STS hull 1 ounce hard #8 shot My vintage Alliant manual says this recipe will result in 1,250 fps and 10,1000 psi. I don't like heavy hard kicking shells, hence this wouldn't be a load I would normally produce. Hoping a few of these shells will help loosen his gun up. We've all told our friend to get in touch with Browning, but he stubbornly hasn't done so yet.
If the A5 has two brass brakes, or recoil compression rings on the magazine tube, remove one along with the spacer for light loads. Also possible to get a lighter tension recoil spring.
