Every year when the fall elections come around I can't help think of my father-in-law. He was a rough old coal miner who didn't pull any punches. We were sitting on his porch one evening when a neighbor who was running for a township supervisor position stopped by to drum up Steve's vote. He started tell him all he was going to do to make the township a better place to live. Steve just sat there drawing on his old corn cob pipe and listening. When the the campaign speech was coming to an end he closed with "Steve, you have known me for many years and I'm a good honest man can I count on your vote on election day?" Steve after removing the pipe from his mouth said something I'll never forget! "Russ your absolutely right I've known you for a long time and you are a good honest man and I'm going to keep you that way, I ain't going to vote for you Never did find out if he voted for him or not
