Up for sale is my 34” MX TOP SINGLE with 3 factory CT. This is a Type 4 barrel and it is not ported. The barrel has a step rib and is in very good condition.

What is going on the side of barrel, where the bottom barrel is connected? The allen screws?

 

The o/u barrels on my Grand America have a very similar bracket. I can only assume its to ensure the barrel stays tight against the forarm wood. Sort of like how later adjustable rib unsingles have wood on both sides of the single barrel. Not 100% sure if this is the case but it sort of seams that way at least on my gun.

 

My gun is of similar vintage as well.

 

It is there to help hold the barrel tight to the forearm. Here is a pic of the CT measurements that goes with the barrel. Chokes numbers 5,6,8
