Mach One Trap reliability and resale value

I am considering buying a Mach One for a soon to be high school grad. Grades pending. I know where there is a Mach One 32". Are they tough to sell? How reliable are they?

I never had one but my son seems to think they are special.

 

You don't see many Mach One out there. If you might consider a Remington 90T Hpar I have one for sale

 

I beg to differ. My Mach got me to AA. Lock time took a while but once we clicked I loved it. It's a tank and Dennis will take care of you. Just my thoughts.

 

"Are they tough to sell?" ..... If the question refers to quickly, it would be yes. But, there will always be a buyer if you wait long enough.

"How reliable are they?" ..... Very ..... I have never seen someone have to leave the line with a "break-down".

The "trigger lock-time" can cause some unintended problems for a new or newer shooter. You can start "flinching" and/or miss a bunch of targets by "short-shooting" when a shotgun "goes-off" too quickly.

The common "stock dimensions" are not for everyone, and even less for a new or newer shooter.

Everyone is different ..... so it may be a perfect match, but if not you may have to take a big "loss" of investment, or a slow resale.

 

In all honesty, I bought a used one and had many misfires/lite firing pin strikes, I took it back to Dennis many times, he had it for several months, he could not fix the problem, sent it to another Gunsmith for repairs, it helped but did not fix the problem, I sold the gun, that owner sent it to Dennis Devault and he had it for several months again, Still not fixed 100%, some good some are bad, It my opinion it is a poor design, firing pins do not Retract

They are a cool looking gun.

 

They are known for misfires.The problem has never been fixed. I had one and it was nothing but trouble.

 

They were a very Poor Design, they needed a rebounding Firing Pin, Like the Perazzi., Dennis is blaming the Primers for the problem, Other Brands do not have Primer Problems

Seems like more than a few various guns are having primer problems these days. Winchester, Cheddite and Fiochi are the culprits-especially Winchesters. Federals have been nearly flawless.

"Trapshooters" are by far the worst of all "shooters" for doing home "Smithing" with non-factory parts, and out of factory "specs".

They think nothing about running down to the local Hardware Store and buying a "spring" that "looks like" what they need. Or, "cutting coils" off springs to get the "feel" they want.

"Primer problems" is not just a shotgun only problem ..... it is mostly a "cheap-ass" problem.

"Barn-Yard" work equals "Barn-Yard" results .....

The MACH ONE has Reciever Problems Firing Pin Holes not at a SPECIFIC DEPTH, and FIRING PIN LENGTHS being too short, not a Standard Pin to fit all Mach One's
I personally Know of this Problem w/one I used to own he sent to Missouri Gunsmith to fix.

I never had a MISFIRE using FLAT primers but you had to keep using them as they were larger diameter

Not quite. One of my customers returned 5,000 Cheddites because his Krieghoff tended to puncture 'em and ruining firing pins. He tried Winchesters but kept getting misfires. After taking the gun back to Krieghoff for more service the trouble remains. I suggested he switch to Federals.

Wonder how I know? My wife has the same problem with her Krieghoff-but only recently and using Winchester primers. Several customers with other brands reported the same problem of light hits.

Seems like some of the battery cups may be either too thick or too hard!

 

There is NO DOUBT that the "quality control" of re-loading supplies has "waned" in recent years. But, "Cheap Import Junk, is "Cheap Import Junk" ..... Big "Names" like "Winchester" have been sold to the highest bidder. "Cheddites" were over-priced when they were half the price of everything else.

Trapshooters being the "cheap" buyers they are, they get what they pay for ...... 5-figure shotguns, 4-figure "re-loaders", and then use mostly "Cheap Import" garbage and have problems ..... Who'da Thunk It .....

 

I shoot a Kolar and reload with Noble Sport primers and had not a single problem with over 20,000 rounds. The Mach OPne has the plunger style firing pin and as Gary mentioned it does not rebound . So the length on the firing pin needs to be just short enough to clear the extractor when opening and cocking the firearm. Now with a milled V grove in the extractor the firing pin can be made longer and will fire the cheap primers.

 

Federal is having lots of mis-fires due to deep seated primers, including Gold Medals and Top Guns

Mach-One resale value is very, very poor you buy one you get stuck with it. Ask dealers if they would take one in on Trade?

Well they Dennis did not make many.

They did not sell well with what few they did make, once the newness was gone and the problems came up, they went down hill

I don't believe I would talk to harshly about the Cheddites, being they are larger and sell more primers than all our primer companies in the US put together. They are in practically every shell brand outside of the US and they win a lot of Olympic Medals

In Dennis' Infinity he used a small recoil spring, I had problems with Federal ammo, and Winchester super targets stick, Gun loves Remington STS' and Noble sport 1 oz 81/2 @ 1200 fps--a scorer said>" lost target-no visible pieces"
