Anyone have their opinion on the Kolar top single Max Ta combo. I can't shoot an unsingle and wanted to know how ya like it and if the top sgl. barrel is lighter than the unsingle high profile barrel. Thanks
Although i'm not currently shooting Trap, i did shoot a top single combo for many years. I felt it had better balance than the unsingle and pointed more naturally for my style of shooting. The only thing you may encounter is a different feel to any recoil and to make sure your pitch on the stock is correct to minimize this. Otherwise i think you'll really like it and not have all the visual issues most encounter with the unsingles.
I have both top single and unsingle barrels and the weight is very close to the same. The short dummy barrel on the unsingle is aluminum while the short dummy barrel on the top single is steel because of the forearm lug mounting on it.
A good friend recently bought a Top Single Kolar combo. He has only fired a few hundred rounds with it, but really, really likes it... Myself, I much prefer the Unsingle design... Ric
I have had both and really liked the way the top single pointed but couldn't get it to shoot high enough with the site picture I preferred(had the extra high rib) so I went to the unsingle barrel. As far as weight goes I believe the top single is lighter that's why the have a weight kit for it. Good luck.
I had the same issue with the top single as M. Pete Rustad had. Was ok for singles but handicap was a different issue had to have a lot of space between the beads to get it to shoot high enough didn't like that look over the barrel.
