Sparta and the games that come with it appear way on the back burner after this quote from the Southern Illinoisan paper. If Wednesday comes without a budget, there is money enough to pay 65,000 state employees through mid-July. But it's likely some services provided by government contractors will begin shutting down or stop because payments will cease. A temporary budget could keep some of those programs functioning. Nothing like socialism at work in an anti-gun state.
That's a lot of state employees. On top of that, the counties have their own employees, and the municipalities have their own employees. Does anyone in Illinois have a private-sector job?
If only I had used my head as a young man and fought to get a Government job, would have been set for life!
Jack, You were probably to ambitious for that kind of a job. I told a few county and state employees that if they had any smarts they would not have to work for the government. Roger C.
