For those of you who may be interested; The .38-56 Winchester Center Fire cartridge was introduced in 1887 by Winchester for the Winchester model 1886 rifle and was also used in the Marlin Model of 1885. Production of Winchester Model 1886s chambered in this cartridge ceased in 1910 due to lack of demand, and most commercial production of the cartridge itself ceased in the 1930s. New production loaded cartridges and unloaded brass cases are rare and are often created using reformed .45-70 brass. The cartridge was originally intended to outperform the similar .38-55 Winchester but in reality, had very similar ballistics despite using more gunpowder. (from Wikipedia) This gun was built for silhouette shooting and is quite capable of great accuracy out to 500yds, assuming you do your part. It is capable of both black powder using cast bullets and smokeless powder using jacketed bullet loads. There is a ton of loading data available online for both. I am no longer shooting silhouette targets, rather focused strictly on Trap, I do not have the bandwidth for both. This is the last of several match-grade single-shot guns left in my safe and while I love the gun, my resources would be better used in a comparably priced shotgun or the cash.... Hope this helps...
Lets keep this current.... TTT Seriously, I am in a mood to trade this.. The worse I can say will be "No Thank You"!! Whatcha Got?
Wow. That is a beautiful gun. Unfortunately I don’t care to shoot skeet. Thank you very much for the offer though.
How about a hunting shotgun a Rizzini combo 20 & 28 gauge Verona model 28 inch barrels with 2 forarms in a Nigeri case
Interesting... Can you tell me more about the Rizzini Verona? Maybe some pictures of the stampings and the receiver internals, etc..?
SKEET & SKEET FIXED 28 INCH I SHOOT IT FOR TRAP DOUBLES SPORTING CLAYS AND HUNTING THIS IS A SUPER GRADE 682 IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
TTT, well just when you thought you were dealing with a standup guy.. you find out you're not. Better to find out now... Anyway, the deal with Old One Eye fell through and the 38-56 is back up for sale/trade.
I assume it's a later Remington action... there is no way it could be an original from the 1800's it's simply in too nice of condition, nor would the builder of a modern rifle, designed to take the pressures of modern smokeless powder take the risk of the older action in a gun of this high quality. To duplicate this rifle in today's $$ would be well over a $7000.
You won’t “find” it anywhere. Comes with all the reloading dies and casings you need to shoot it. I’ll even add a few hundred primers.
