im not sure what brand sbt gun it was, but it was one of those lookalikes.....maybe a ljutic, bowen, afferman? which has the push button forearm release system?
anyway, the owner today on my squad was putting it in the gun rack after 25 on the 16.....and as he closed it, and went to put it leaning in the rack, the forearm disconnected in his hand and the gun began to fall off. quick thinking...he bear hugged it and caught it with his free arm. whew. anyway, is this a common issue with the button on those forearms?

No it is not common. Keep your hand off the button.

he didn't touch the button. he was holding the wood that was closed. where could the problem lie?

Some guns like a Machone & an Infinity have a take up screw that enables an adjustment of the clearance for the breech face--if the screw got loose--it could cause a problem, also the screws that attach the iron to the forearm might have gotten loose--blue locktite is your friend

Another Infinity problem was the iron was attached with 10/24 screws that sheared-- the screws should be replaced with 1/4-20--problem solved Dennis did this in later models--don't ask me how I know

May have been not locked up to begin with. My P gun will hold the forearm on even if not locked on.

he just got finishing a game. odds are it would have come off then from recoil.
