Devault mach one

Iam thinking on the purchase of a mach one trap. Would really like to hear forum members opinions. Thanks

 

I do not own one, but have friends that do, they are built like tanks ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

I own an Infinity, the Machone & my gun are bullet proof-- the real kicker is getting used to the speed of the trigger--the lock time on my Infinity is 3x's faster than a Silver Seitz---its a learning curve--expect to be short shooting targets in the beginning

 

I owned one and shot it well the only problem was it did not like steel based shells. The would stick in the chamber. Dennis honed the chamber and they still stuck. He said nature of the beast. If you shoot AA or any brass base shell they work fine and like others stated they are built like a tank.

 

I had a Mach-One, shells would stick, Dennis had it , 3 months could not fix it, He sent the Gun To Kirby the Gun Smith, the Chamber had to be redone and a New Shell Rim Re-cut New Remington Nitro would not fire, Federal Top Gun would not fire, the only to fire and never miss-fire, were Reloads using RIO Primers, they were flat across the Brass.

Forgot to mention, about the subject of sticking shells & light hits--my Infinity doesn't like any shell with non flat primer-Federals & Estates, also forget about shooting Winchester Super Targets, they stick like crazy

I shoot B&P Comp 1 & Remington STS--No Problems

My dad has a Mach One. Dennis went through it about two months before he passed. I tried shooting it for about a year with little to no success. Switched guns and went up about 10 birds per 100.

Nothing against the Mach One, it's a well built gun and looks amazing, so I at least looked good while shooting bad, lol. Different guns fit different people and I'd never want him to sell it.

 

A reason a lot of people can't shoot a Mach One or an Infinity, is they rely on pattern board info, to determine how the gun shoots--pattern board is stationary--trap targets are not-the only thing the pattern board should tell you is the pattern centered or not--once you get the pattern centered--go to the range & lock post 3 on straight away & adjust the elevation till you get nothing but smoke--if you're used to shooting a P or a K gun @ 80/20--you'll find out you need to shoot a Mach One about 120% and an Infinity 130-140%-- its the trigger speed with a release --@ 80/20 you're hitting the bottom of the targets

 

Another aspect of the Mach One & the Infinity, is the barrel bore & barrel finish--the 3 chokes Dennis provided where .020, 025 & .030--the chokes were Briley S2-thinwall for a .740 bore & the interior finish is the slickest of any shotgun
In one test Dennis did, with a special timer he had--he compared an Infinity with another well known single barrel gun

In the Infinity a Winchester AA @ 1145--the other gun a Winchester silver bullet @ 1250---the AA wad cleared the Infinity way quicker that the Silver bullet wad

No need to over choke a Mach One or an Infinity

 

I shot 025 back to the 27. Dennis made a fine shotgun. If not for wanting a combo I’d still be shooting it. The lock time did take some getting used to but loved the gun.

 

I had a LH Mach One, #41. Loved everything about the way the gun felt, pointed and balance (never any problems with shells) . Had trouble with the super fast trigger. I wish I still had it, would like to give that trigger a try again, probably gave up on it to soon.

 

Invested a lot of $$, in helping Dennis develop his O/U--its a shame he passed --the gun would have been a world beater

If only they were in a 34 barrel length.

 

I have an early one and it is a 34 inch barrel.

 

Dennis believed 33” was optimum length for the least vibration and best harmonics. He told me that Al Ljutic claimed 33 was his best barrel. Dennis felt strongly about this and other things. You weren’t going to change his mind.

 

The normal chokes that Dennis provide were 1/2" extended, if you gotta have 34", have Briley make your chokes 1 1/2"--noo problem-=just mo $$$
