Is it hard to open without firing it ??? The vibration of the shot may let the locking block engage deeper, possibly changing a solution .....
It opens pretty freely when shooting but when i get home to clean it, it's hard to open. I had to bump the lever with a plastic screw driver head to move the lever to open it.
If it opens freely most of the time, but sticks some of the time, it sounds like you need to figure out what you are doing different ..... Do you close the action while holding the lever over ??? And release it slowly into the lock position ..... It sounds like you transport it in a soft case assembled ..... Do you put it in that case while it is 'hot' ?????
Open the gun, remove the barrel, & clean the bottom of the receiver with a rag & solvent. Blow it out with air, and put a little good gun grease on the locking lug. Also, put a dab on the lug on the bottom of the barrel.
PS, my wife has two Guerinis, a bottom single, and an unsingle combo. It has worked well in the apst.
It would be hard to imagine it being dirty enough to have to use a screwdriver handle to move the lever, and it still open OK while shooting ..... So ...... If it opens freely most of the time, but sticks some of the time, it doesn't sound like a clean and lube fix .....
Have a gun smith check you locking bolt. Sounds like it is extending to far into the receiver. Roger C.
It would be interesting to see the position of the lever when it 'sticks' ...... A "snap cap" sometimes holds the firing pin out, making the barrel not want to move ...... But it shouldn't make the lever 'stick' .....
The "Pit Stop" may be free ..... and that is a good thing ..... But shipping by any carrier right now seems questionable ..... The lost/theft rate is high enough now that if you feel that is the magic smoke-pole, a 'face to face' service may be worth the price by not losing sleep, and the fight to get the insurance paid .....
I shot it yesterday and it did the same thing; opened okay while shooting but real hard to open later at home when I went to clean it. The gun is new last year and shouldn't be anywhere close to a pit stop. I'm thinking maybe I might break the gun down after shooting it instead of putting it in the soft case and see if that makes a difference. I will make sure that it is wiped dry rbdr where you have indicated. Oh, I do not use snap caps. It sounds crazy to me that it opens easily when shooting but not at home when cleaning. I wonder if the recoil has anything to do with it opening easier. I guess when everything else fails, I need to call Caeser Guerini and see what they can tell me.
Mine is a few months old, And I also noticed it after cleaning and lubing it . I did call Target Shotguns where I purchased and Talked to Steve R, he explained it, and the picture I posted was sent to me from him, I did not think it would cure it but it has. I now put no lube or oil of any kind there. all been good since August.
If it was something with recoil ...... why wouldn't it open hard when you get to the Club ???? If you carry it both directions, to the Club and back home, the same way, why would it only open hard at home ???? It should open hard when you first take it out of the case at the Club, unless the heat from shooting it may have an some type of effect on it when it cools in the case. Or it doesn't want to go home LOL
