A shooting pal has a Beretta Onyx Pro Trap. He has the 32 o/u. I have had the 682 and 687. Is the Onyx Pro Trap a higher quality gun? I am interested in quality control issues. The Onyx feels better than the other 2. Any info would help.
One of the deciding factors for me going with the Onyx Pro was that I didn't want the engraving like that of the JE 687. It's nice looking but I like the look of the black receiver with the simple gold signature. The Onyx Pro is a 686 receiver matched with Beretta's probably best barrels ever in that of the 682's. I have roughly 2500 rounds through mine since May and I love my Onyx Pro. It fits me great the way it came, way better than my XT that I shot years ago before I got out of trap for the past few years. I've gained about 3-4 birds on my average over what it was when I left and I put up my first registered 25 straight with it in July and have a few 25s in practice rounds. In terms of quality control issues I haven't found any. They're still a Beretta!!! They just parted them together for a special model for Cabelas but I haven't had a single issue with mine. Still just as tight to open, which is really tight, as the day I brought it home. **edit** forgot to mention I have the 34/32 combo
Beretta has been around for a long time, not sure they have many guns on the market that are not good quality guns ... Big Leo ( Leo Harrison III) could of shot any gun he wanted and Beretta was his choice and he did reasonably ( as in VERY) well with it ... I have had a few Beretta's over the years and cannot say I could find any fault with any of the ones I owned ... I was looking for a DT-10 combo and got a deal on a Perazzi Combo so I opted to go that way ... If I would of found a nice DT-10 I do not think I would of been unhappy with it, most of the people I see shooting them are doing reasonably well and do not complain about the gun ... If I ran into a really nice DT-10 combo today I would probably buy it just to have it ... The Onyx Pro guns I have seen are nice looking guns and appear to be of reasonable quality for the money ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
