Why are the ATA State Organizations and the ATA itself making it difficult for the AIM and SCTP shooters to compete for the big money at week end?

The ATA must like the dues. The ATA forces membership dues on the SCTP.

If AIM shooters want compete for the BIG BUCKS they have to stay for the whole shoot. That is a long time at the Grand or Nebraska.

Is it because the ATA wants to protect the BIG DAWG shooters’ feelings? Are they afraid of hurting their pocket books? Attendance was crushed at Nebraska when the kids left.

Thanks for the heads up on this.

    I report. You decide.

SCTP kids teams shoot slower that regular old ATA members do so if a state has lots of SCTP kids and they shoot as teams during the state singles championship the banks get screwed up with some being behind other banks depending on how many SCTP teams are on that bank. This can really mess up a saturday at a big shoot with only so many traps.

When I was on the osta board we couldn't handle the 600 or 700 kids and the regular 1000 ata shooters all in one day. It takes some time to shoot 200 singles and with the banks running at different times it wouldn't be possible.

    1. How are they making it difficult?
2.. SCTP wanted their 16 yard targets to be registered with the ATA. The kids and their parents wanted it.! They couldn't register handicap events from SCTP because its system is by age not ability!
    3. For the targets to be registered with the ATA they would need to be ATA members, which means they would have to pay ATA dues and state fees.
    4. The AIM shoot prior to the Grand, uses a totally different classification system than the Grand or any other ATA shoot.
    5. SCTP uses a different classification system than the AIM or ATA. Also, they use their own squadding system which goes by time of day not by squad number!

If the kids want to shoot for "BIG BUCKS" they can skip the AIM shoot and just shoot the ATA portion of any shoot, be it the Grand or a State shoot and wouldn't be there as long.

The SCTP agreed to have their targets registered because they were pressured by the ATA. I never saw a poll by the parents. Do you have one? The kids get nothing from it. They pay ATA dues. Much of the ATA membership is SCTP.

Kelli is right. The kids could skip the AIM at the beginning. Should they have to? I think that is the OP’s point.

They pay $12 a year to belong to ATA.
