Shooting only one night a week gives me a lot of time on my hands - Started cutting heads off of shotgun shells -- splitting the primers two ways and riveting them on hats and belts - Every primer has a identical wedge inside - no matter what make -some are steel others are brass - all are identical in shape and size --Is this like a firing pin inside the shell? does one company makes them for all primers? curious mind what to know?
Probably subcontracted for the mfg., pretty sure Remington, Winchester or Federal is not making primer components. Bet dollars to donuts the primers are completely made by subcontractor and labeled for Remmy, Winny and Federal. Physically all are slightly different. Good luck with your pin making.
What is so strange it doesn't matter age or country - I have split Canadian Imperial primers - J.C. Higgins primers from the 60's - Western super X -federal gold metals -Fiocchi - Remingtons - AA's -All have the identical shaped wedge in side - Something that I have taken for granted for 50+ years - is stuck in my head - Wife blames it on the Covid lock down.
