What would the perfect trapshooting organization be like?

I hate to say this, but I've been on the management side of a small trap club. If You could come up with the, "perfect", organization, someone would still complain about it! Therefore such a thing is virtually impossible.

Virtually Impossible- virtually defined by Webster as almost but not entirely.

The perfect trapshooting org would want to hear it's members.

It would be one that didn't self-destruct from people bleeding it for personal gain.

I don't care much for the wording of "perfect" when it comes to shooting clay targets. I seriously doubt anyone could say anything is even close to being perfect in any shooting regulations or clubs. That said, it doesn't prevent some from thinking along the lines of a game as being one of almost perfection.

I'd think it would be ideal if we threw targets with enough difficulty that picking out almost daily winners would be a real chore.

It shouldn't cater to one specific group and would truly handicap those deemed to master those target settings. Paying appointees to attend shoots they would normally shoot anyway takes lotsa cash, and a new gun for 1 year of Presidential service seems a bit much for a non-profit org.?

Nobody's ever going to make everyone happy, but for me i think that a group should reach out to there membership for there consensus on matters. The representatives would represent the interest of us not themselves, not the industry, not the loud minority of whining whimpering crybabies that protest against change. I love trap shooting, but i hate the way it is stuck in the 70's.

One thing it will take is Mandatory yardage reductions, if you cannot maintain a 90% average you are given a reduction,
and more reductions until you reach that yardage where you are prolific at it.

Mandatory 44 degree angles, 50-52 yard targets, at all clubs, and Sparta.

20 yd min handicap, this is just for starters. Complete rule book change, back to the basics, use the rules we had in 1955

This is what its going to take, I personally think a man like Neal Crausaby and men hand picked by him to serve on a rule book re-write. Never doubt Neal's ability. The ATA needs a drastic change of venue.

We members need to approve salaries for President on down. These used to be positions of volunteers, men dedicated to the sport of Trapshooting.

Meeting to be held in Teleconferences instead of paid travel to major shoots for meetings, and Motel, food costs.

As per above post I think the op was about in general not about any org now.

My perfect org would focus on the spread of the sport over the creation of income.

Guys and Gals, all we can do on these sites is make suggestions and hope the readers and ATA executives start to listen and make some changes. Talk to their delegates, send them letters of suggestions, or better yet a letter from your local gun club on their Letter Head noting number of shooters present at their meeting, and listing suggested changes.

We have some new OSTA delegates and Zone directors that have the desire to make some changes not the GOOD OLE BOY, YES MAN ATA Ass Kissers.

One problem is we members do not have a voice at the meeting during the Grand. I know I drove from Ohio to Sparta to speak at the meeting. I was told I could not speak. I am a LIFE MEMBER and we LIFE MEMBERS are supposed to have a voice.

I asked our OHIO Delegate Dennis Filo to speak my suggestions only to be told by him it has been discussed in the past.

How do we know the specifics of what was discussed? They were not in any of the ATA minutes that I have read, and I have read them all.

I am 74 years old now, have had my left foot amputated, but I am still a TRAPSHOOTER, and I like COMPETETIVE TARGETS, always have and always will.

Isn't a webinar a teleconference, maybe a teleconference is a better word, it is drastically needed.

Doc its MEN like you that should be heard, on.... another website... i mentioned that i want old target angle and speed back, i was told that changes where "best for sport ", but looking around im not seeing any improvement in # of shooters or a youth influx into sport once they reach 18 years of age.
We need experience and history respected and base our future on the past.

They would lie about their incomes to gain advantage, I apologize I misread the post, though it was about individuals incomes, not the ATA's

They are already shooting 1300fps sporting clay shells, look in the dumpsters, or on the ground

Please tell the world how lying about your income gets you a competitive advantage in trapshooting.

Bigbearstate1: wanted shoot to be based in income, so you tell me if lying about income would create an advantage?
Don't you guys READ THE THREADS COMPLETELY, or do you need an interpretator, if you do I suggest you have the other site read it for you

    LS....I wrote.
Meaning that we would want management to focus on the spread of the sport. There is no mention about competition. There is no mention of basing anything on income.

I copied and pasted for you.

    Doc please read again!

In what way would it be created over income $15,000 Vs $200,000 ? all a person has to do is lie about income for an advantage, am I missing something here? You get more advantage if you make less?

    Doc.....

The post was about management focusing on spreading the sport. Not focusing on creating income for the org. You are missing something. Medication!

Again please copy and paste where someone other than you said someone would get an advantage with a lower income......

Doc can you hear chirping noises?

I mis intreperted your thread Bigbearstate1: I did not read it about income for the ATA as a focus, I thought it was about personal income. if it was stated income for the ATA I would have understood it better, I am sorry for my previous threads. As they did not apply.

The perfect org would consider options like the magnums at PITA.

I would like to see a an org as intent on bringing the younger in as much as smooching the butts of those soon to leave the game.

In the perfect org you would have the option of shooting only 100 of the 200 singles. Might bring back some blue collar shooters that cant afford the 200 bird events and the handicap.

There's a new money shoot in town? Do you wanna partake? What, you want to sign up with your buddies? Sorry, nope. Why not? There will be none of this calling broken targets for your buddy when he merely draws dust off a clay. We certainly don't do that!! Well, it's been documented that it has happened and it won't in this competition, period. OK, sign me up anyway.

Forget to load your gun, too bad, it's a lost target, wait till it comes your turn again. Flinch? Don't do that, that's another lost target. There will be no such thing as a slow target, expect some minute delays. No target if it comes out broken or not called for be the shooter.

    Fun times indeed!
