Some interesting changes are being discussed by our new PSSA tournament director. Thus far, the four new ways of promoting business could be winners both financially and promoting higher scores.

On the agenda will be the introduction of green targets with black rims. That should certainly improve visibility and increase scoring.

Also discussed was allowing those shooters who are not interested in shooting an entire 200 target event to split with another interested shooter and only fire at 100 targets. Since so many shooters are getting older it might be in the best interest of the organization to be a bit pro active on this issue.

The ability to accept credit cards for entries is a #1 on suggested changes. This should make it easier for the younger shooters to compete since it seems most prefer not to carry large sums of cash.

And last, a complete revamping of the trophy system. Being discussed is some sort of system where a point value will be assigned to a win instead of a trinket. Those points will be available for use in paying for an entry or even purchasing things from shoot vendors. A book listing trophies will be made available to those individuals (especially juniors and sub-juniors) who would prefer one.

I think our new tournament director is spot on with all of these changes. Anyone care to differ?

This information just might go the way of the practice traps being moved to bank 6.

Bank 6 at PSSA remains a program bank. I think the logistics was the problem. I hope they do go with the all green.

Change the LEWIS back to a $10.00 lewis instead of$20.00 With target prices steady upward why the greed in more for lewis? In speaking to shooters many will play at 10 but NOT at $20.oo

Our club tried the Green targets and overall the scores went down. It seems that a person with having some color blindness issues sees them as a flat dull yellow.
I like them and shoot them well. Most of our shooter are on the older side and according to a vision specialist. As we age we have more problems with color blindness.

We tried the Green targets for a year, and then went back to the All Orange.

    Just something to consider.

We did a Winter league study at our club-green one week-orange the other. Under identical conditions green produced 2x as many straights. What we found was the better shooters preferred 'em while those who couldn't break any color hated 'em!

One of the shooters that did not care for them and saw them as other colors, is a Class State Champion. It appears your State must have better shooters.

    Good luck.

One of our clubs faces South and visibility can often be an issue. I once pulled for a group of marathoners and started with orange. They complained about visibility so I offered 'em green as another option. They stayed with green.

Of course, most of us already know PA has the best shooters!
