Has any one tried the New Browning Crossover?

I would like pros and cons

 

I don't think you will get that gun to shoot high enough for your liking gary.

 

I had the chance to shoot one a couple of weeks ago. A buddy picked up a 30" and seemed to be crushing targets quite well with it. I took it for a test drive and ran 25 straight with the factory Mod choke that was in it. The 3" chambers seemed to lessen the recoil a bit and it pointed wel . He said it was supposed to be 60/40 POI and it did a great job with the target floated just above the barrel .

 

I have been told that the crossover does not have the quality of the 725 or the Citori, did you notice that? It is about $1,000 cheaper at approx. $1695, I am looking for a sporting clay O/U and have my eye set on the Browning XS w/32"inch Bbls, Hi rib design.

They are flat shooting guns, as with any other gun POI changes with different shooters. The one i have shot had a adjustable comb installed and it was lighting quick swinging, on par with my citori special sporting clays edition, but in a lighter weight. I still prefer the feel of heavier gun (why 687 is still in safe). Word of warning pattern ANY FACTORY BROWNING CHOKE, they are known to be inconsistent. I love my Browning guns and proudly shoot them against "better" guns.

 

Did anyone specifically state where they were of lesser quality than the 725 or Citori. My son had one for year, just sold it last week. I shot it a couple of times and liked it. Seemed quality enough for me. Where I do see a lesser quality is in the wood. My son bought his last summer, I think they were labeled the Shot Show edition or something. It had very nice wood and glossy finish. I've seen some newer ones and do not like the wood/finish at all. He also felt the trigger was sloppy, but I really didn't think it was bad.

 

I bought a 725 field over and under 12 gauge. 28 inch barrels, uses the inventor DS chokes, has the "so called mechanical triggers" . I shoot full choke true lock in upper barrel, and true lock IM in lower.

I am far from a really good trap shooter, but I have shot well with this gun. Not the premier wood, but the receiver is nice, shoots a little high like you would want. Costs a little more than the crossover, but I would recommend you look at the field model in addition to the crossover. I am very satisfied with mine. I shoot leagues , not registered, but with the above mentioned chokes, I shoot back to the 26 and 27 and can hit any target from that distance with 7-1/2 or 8's. 28 Inch barrel is not a hindrance at all, and the gun is fast and easy to swing. Lighter weight might bother some recoil wise over a heavy dedicated trap gun, but I shoot a lot of 1 oz. loads, and is very comfortable. I put a SPS recoil system on it mainly to adjust lop for winter shooting and heavier clothes, but it helps recoil wise also.

Check out the field model, you might be surprised.
