Was shooting a big 50 this morning. Was shooting new factory STS light 71/2's & this is a first for any factory load I have shot-- the wad cleared the barrel lost Have had numerous FTF, with various brands over the years, but this was my first lost target--due to crappy factory ammo & I didn't get a chance to miss it only own Now with chance of not ever seeing a $100.00 rebate--this was the icing on the Remington cake Could anyone imagine the huge stink--if a top gun was shooting for big $$$, say the old $100K winner takes all & this happened Maybe time for a rule change if this happens & you're shooting factory ammo ?
No, I called lost when the wad cleared my barrel--@ 77, my days of shooting descent scores are over--when a STS wad drops 5 ' from the barrel , there is no ?, normally a STS wad is out there alongside the target
Many years ago during a Vandalia Grand I was shooting with Brad Dysinger and he was I believe 96 straight. On his 97th target the shot landed on top of the trap house and the target was lost. He did break the last 3 for a 99. This doesn't happen often, but over time it has happened to many shooters sometimes in the wrong place and time. There is a rule in place. Play by the rules and go on. We don't need more of the mind set of little Johnny needs a ribbon. Dave Berlet
I understand, in trap shooting we lose a target, in combat lost really matters--wondering how many soldiers lost their lives because of bad ammo--I'm a retired submariner & in WWll--our torpedoes really sucked in the beginning of the war, maybe they were made by Remington , a joke of course
Got a nice Email from Dawn at the rebate center - Rebate was approved and being processed - If I don't se a check by the end of August or the first of September I am to Email her back- There is hope?
Scary part is you could have been using other brand and had 2 factory DUDS then you would have ended up with a 48! Better get your reloading stuff together so that NEVER happens again.
Sold all my presses 1 1/2 tons of shot when we move to FL--were going into a condo--no room for loading--AND in Fl if you have an un-a/c garage forget about loading for 6 months of the year Have not had a bad shell shooting B&P comp one shells-have shot approx 10 K of them this year--they're going to be my shell to go thru after I shoot up my Remington stash I shoot an Infinity its ammo sensitive, some shells stick (like Ljutics) and being a striker driven firing pin--I get light hits on some Federals & Estates
I'm in Fl. and get up at 5AM to load if I need to. During the shutdown I loaded a little over 28 flats of trap rounds. Got 13 bags of Shot , 8500 STS primers, 1000 wads but not much powder left right now.
