Shooters Choice MC #7 works great. Even CLP works well if you let it soak in a couple minutes then use a bronze tornado brush in the barrel. I usually just use the CLP but every few cleanings use the MC #7 for an extra effective cleaning. MC #7 removes plastic residue even without using a bore brush, but need to follow up with cleaning out of barrel then light lubing.
Brownell's "Double Tuff" bore brushes. Made to remove buckshot residue from riot guns. Works like a champ. http://www.brownells.com/gun-cleani...-brushes/double-tuff-bore-brush-prod1244.aspx
I use Bore Snakes a lot, but they will not remove plastic fouling from bores, forcing cones, and chokes. I use them exclusively in my Briley tubes. They do not foul like steel bores.
Hoppes #9 No brushes needed. Wet the bore and push wadded paper towel thru w dowel rod. Let it sit while wet for 5 min and push another wad of paper towel thru.
Using today's watered down #9 will not get my barrels clean enough to install tubes. When I was young, #9 had something in it (benzene) that would curl your toes AND get all fouling out.
Shooting Coach, I'd bet a dime to a donut hole your Briley tubes are polished better than your bore? Dennis DeVault once wrote that there's a machine the measures surface roughness. I've forgotten what it's called but supposedly measures smoothness really well. I polished my bores to a mirror finish and made it much better at preventing plastic from sticking so bad, especially with the cheaper wads. HAP
