that's what I've been doing, caught my finger skin under the hammer and it hurt like hell. made me think how does a gunsmith test your release speed and trigger function?
I have three P guns and what I'll do is,I put a small (4x4 piece) of sheet rubber on the edge of my work bench, hold the trigger ass. ay a 90 degree angle to the edge, and snap the trigger. Iam hitting the rubber and doing no harm, and no pinched fingers.
After I am finished shooting for the day I remove the trigger group from the receiver and let the release off while holding the hammer to let it fall easily. I have never caught of pinched my fingers. Takes just a few seconds and lets the pressure off of the hammer spring. It also allows me to spray a little dry lube on it and it is ready to go next time.
