Left my house @ 7:15 this morning drove 80 miles to shoot some registered targets Witnessed the targets being set, tried several different lenses The targets were all orange White Flyers--could not see them @ all against a white cloudy sky The paint that Euro Targets use is much brighter and it helps a little-but IMHO all orange targets are for skeet shooting not trap shooting Well, got back in my car and went home without taking my gun out of the car
I agree 100% about the all orange targets. But I would of still shot after driving there. now you know not to go back. luke at the cardinal center says a black rim target is not the answer for the cardinal center. I would like to shoot a black rim target against the screen and judge for myself.
Crimes..you guys bitchin cause the targets are too hard? Would you be happier if we gave you four oops didn’t see that one come out? Oh. We already do that. Maybe two more redo targets. Sometimes the grouse gets away. It’s like that for everyone. How about if you just mark a score down? Yeah like that guy did that was on the 18 that won the grand. Better yet call in a score....if you can see the numbers on your phone.
The BIGGEST problem is if the clubs listened to every shooter when it comes to the color of targets or the manufacture of they would never get anything else done ... Most clubs designate the type and color of the targets in the program or help is but a phone call away to save your self a long drive ... If you please one person you'll probably piss off a dozen so where and what do you do, it is never ending or can be ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Bill mention the club. I did not know of any club shooting this week end. I'm going to the Grand in Tucson next week and have not fired a shot after our state shoot. Do you ever go to Rio Salado? Roger C.
635-G I see a huge banner on the fence for the Canadian Lawry targets at Blackjack. Are these what they are going to throw for us ? Just asking.
nobody is bitchin about how hard the targets are you dumbass. we are only talking about the color of them and what are eyes pick up.
Lawrys are OK, many years ago I was bad mouthing Lawrys, something fierce-- their rep contacted me & made me an offer that I could not reuse--Harlan was holding a two day clinic @ a NC club--the rep said he would donate all the targets under the following rules--no one -will not be informed of the targets until @ the end of the clinic At the end of the clinic Harlan and the 10 attendees where asked what they thought about the targets--No one had any problems and they were happy with the breaks--willing to bet shooters up north have few companies with them either--the current batch of Lawrys are very different from those 15 years ago
Because he said he could not see the targets well after they hit the cloudy sky background. I myself would have shot but then I don't give a crap about averages and have shot registered birds in snow storms before because the money and trophies were desirable to me. it's the man's money and if he doesn't like the product they were offering I respect his right to driveaway without spending a dime at the club.
Many years ago, went to visit family members in Ca, went to Redlands-they threw green targets--I was told all my lens were worthless-needed blue or brown lens- that's when I got this thing for target color & style
635-G, I lived in NY state for over 60 years and shot in Canada quite a bit. Many, many years ago those were pretty hard targets to break, 7.5s were the norm to use. Probably 15 or so years ago they must have changed the formula because they became a much easier target to break. I have nothing against Lawrys what so ever, I was just wondering if this is what they were using down there. I have one WF in my collection with 7 distinct holes in it, and it is still Whole. The worst Lawry I have found that didn't' break has 3 holes.
I believe he will stick with Lawry's--he told me he threw over 4 million targets, between sporting , crazy quail & 5 stand with that amount of lead piling up, he would be a fool not to install some shot curtains--lot of $$$ lying on the ground
I've only been shooting since 1971 so I don't have as much experience as some of you guys and have only seen targets with multiple holes in them a few times but I can say that the woody brown targets at the PA state one year were NOT soft You could take a whole target and drop it on the front porch and it didn't shatter
Flyersbest, You can set a good target on the floor and very gently put your foot on it and it will support your weight, just do not shock it. Try it some time it may surprise you. Roger C.
By the way does anyone know what style targets the Silver $ are currently using- I was on a bank 4 Sun. , got zero sky targets-they looked all most totally orange, my guess is NY style
