Or if there are 15 or more shooters at a small shoot and your 89 is high , congratulations you just got a punch!
I always thought it was so you didn't get punched if you had one good day. Like mudpack said, you have to do it twice.
Ever consider it is an ATA all-about-the-money thing ????? At some point becoming a over-handicapped shooter was sold to the never-was crowd ..... So, with the "1/2 yard punch", you have to break twice as many crap scores to get to "shoot with your friends" ..... Since most ONLY want to make that trip ONCE, get as much money as you can from it ..... Even with the free trip to the 25, many will shoot A LOT in BFE breaking garbage scores to reach their final never-was goal. Most wonder-why questions about something ATA, seem to make sense if you try to answer in a MONEY way ..... If you ask many long-time serious shooters the difference one yard makes, the answer will be "none" ..... So, 2-yard increases and decreases would make more sense, but make money less money for the ATA .....
User1, I have shot over 350000 registered targets in my life time. I would guess, I have spent over $500,000.00 on my sport. I have been a life member for many years. I have no idea how much of my costs have gone to the ATA. I never begrudged them one cent of my costs. Until they decided we members were not smart enough to help guide the organization. The need to know bullshit was the icing on the cake, along with the move to Sparta, the purchase of trap machines without any competitive bidding, the insider dealing of the purchase of the building, the H.O.F. scam. It never seems to end. A once honorable sport, has morphed into a piggy bank for the insiders, we will never know to what extent the organization has suffered. I would hope that the only way Mr. Fishburn agrees to help them is to make them change the bylaws of the organization to include the life members in the direction the ATA will continue to operate. I really feel the EC and complete B.O.D. should be removed and new elections should be held for all positions. THERE ARE SOME GOOD B.O.D. MEMBERS, they should all be able to rerun for their positions. Let the members decide who the new leaders will be. Roger C.
