Looks like from the latest points standings Chase Horton from Illinois will be the 2020 AA Captain. Way to go young man! Would he be the youngest Captain ever if this holds up? I believe Ricky was quite young when he was first Captain.
This young man shot at several of the major shoots I attended this year. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he has earned the AA Captain honors this year. It's great to see some younger shooters challenging the other top shooters in the ATA. If Chase Horton does indeed come out on top this year, I bet guys like Rick Marshall and Harlan Campbell will be some of the first shooters to congratulate the young man and shake his hand as both appreciate that kind of special talent. Just think, last year we had a 19 year old girl win the Grand American HAA and this year could see our youngest ever AA Captain. Just what our aging sport needs if it's going to survive!
The new updated all American points are listed on the ATA site. That is after they figured only the 7 highest shoots and dropped anyone that did not meet all the other requirements. They just updated it today, August 23rd.
It may come down to the Heartland Grand. September 1st is Sunday st the first few days of the shoot will still be this target year. Be interesting to see how it works out.
All of the Heartland Grand is recorded as target year 2020 (not 2019). Any shoot ending in the new year, the whole shoot regardless of when it started is in the new year. The totals are in already. On the ATA site with the standings has already been updated with all the shoots and only shows the 7 highest scoring ones and they dropped anyone that did not have the other requirements. The list was updated on August 23rd to show the end of the year standings.
Yep, I see they are now showing the top 7 scores. It will change a bit because shoots like Manitoba is still going on.
