Fellow shooters. The dollar fee that is added to all the entries is listed as a donation. It is a fee that goes to pay for a building that is owned by Illinois. Your BOD members did not disclose that to you? You cannot be forced to pay it. It is a donation. Do not give anymore money to the anti gun state. It is their building. Let them pay for it. If it was mandatory it would be a tax..... I am not saying don't shoot. Don't pay the tax. Tell the clerks you will not pay it!!!!!
Not everyone that shoots in Sparta wants to give money to Illinois. If you don't like the post Flyer stay out of the conversation. I am letting my friends know you legally have a choice. It is listed as a donation. Don't donate. Tell the clerk you refuse to donate.
Relax! I never said I didn't like it. It SOUNDS like a good idea. Please let me know what they said when you told them you didn't want to DONATE. Better yet, take a picture of your entry sheet showing the $1.00 was deleted. Event #1 Entry...………………………………………………...…...$36.00 Trapshooting Hall Of Fame Debt Relief Fund...……$1.00 IDNR Fee...………………………………………………..$3.00 Total...……………………………………………………...$40.00 I don't see the $1.00 Fee under the OPTIONS category. And since when did the word legally have anything to do with the ata.
Nowhere is it listed as a "donation", it's listed as a "fund". It is part of your entry fee. If you do not pay it, you are not entered.
I know shooters who would not shoot if the prices got raised by a dollar per hundred, this would be an even better reason to not shoot and make a donation to the State of Illinois (they own the HOF building ) ... I went on a tour of the HOF when it was in Vandalia, got to figure not one whole hell of a lot has changed since then ... One of the prettiest sights I ever seen was the State of Illinois in my rear view mirror when I was leaving ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
I think Flyers has this one. No Pay-No Play. Only way that would work would be a mass Demonstration or Boycott. Chances of that happening is remote to none. And, I'm assuming you have ATA and Ill. assn. fees as well. Regards....Gerald
Well the money is either going to be taken from the pockets of those who go to the grand,or those that don't.Which do you prefer?
We all will pay it! No matter how much money they, the ATA, extort from the shooters at the Grand it probably won't cover the remaining balance. If they don't get enough the ATA will add a fee elsewhere. It's criminal at best.
The WSRC is owned by the State of Illinois, operated by the State as a state park under the watchful eyes of of the IDNR .... Not sure its ever been resolved if it leased, rented, sublet, to the ATA since there was a lot of confusion initially with the lease, then MOU, then hand shake, etc ... The HOF building is part of the WSRC and cannot be separated from adjoining properties that surround the HOF building ... Personally I would not give the State of Illinois a dime of my money under any conditions for any reason ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
I'll talk about the white elephant. Tell me why the Martins don't give enough money to Illinois to pay for their HOF. Oh yeah....now I remember. Didn't he suggest the trap shooters fork out some more money? We aren't in the HOF. He is in. Thanks to having lots of money. If the Martins think giving Illinois money to build a building is a good idea then let them do it. Ohio and PA have comparable HOFs and they own their own buildings. jmho
I'm not very smart, so please, if you will, identify the LESSEE in plain, simple terms so I can understand.
Lesee is the TRAPSHOOTING HALL OF FAME INC. NOT the ATA, as is so commonly stated. Please see the post by History Buff elsewhere in these forums WHO OWNS THE TRAPSHOOTING HALL OF FAME MUSEUM AND OFFICES The whole lease agreement is there.
Total entries for all events : 30,562 , so the HOF got $30,562 and pissed off a bunch of shooters AGAIN ... Could it be worth it ..? WPT ... (YAC) ...
History Seeker, I had a friend of mine tell them he did not want to pay the TAX, they told him you have no choice. Other than not shooting. We did it to see if it was voluntary (IT WAS NOT). They just keep using the shooters, and getting AWAY WITH IT. I wonder why they are loosing shooters. It is a good thing we have such competent leaders or the ATA may be in big trouble with their members. Roger C.
Sparta Sid, 2051 minus 2050 = 1. Even by your math it can not possible = 17% But you were close in you prediction, there was a (substantial) increase was there not? Every thing is still headed in a FANTASTIC DIRECTION, Roger C. P.S. Sid, the final count was 2002, not 2051 you were off a little more than first reported. Maybe we should check that direction again. Come on Sid put on you big boy panties on and admit you were wrong. Roger C.
The ATA and State of Illinois have and use the same "Donation " tactics, you will donate like it or not so you might just as well like it, even if you don't ... This would be more of an assessment than a donation to assist in settling an outstanding debt that was made without the knowledge of the ones who are now liable to pay for it ... If shooters who do not attend the grand get assessed it would be good reason to not shoot at all other than practice, which is considerably cheaper any how ... WPT .... (YAC) ...
1,978 in the GAH event #24 Not QUITE 4,000 as sidney predicted. Kinda like Bob Uecker in the movie Major League Just a LITTLE outside! I don't think we will be hearing from him or #2 for a while. What are they going to brag about? You can bet your azz that if it would have been 2,051 these two, along with all the rest of them that I know read every one of my posts, would be tickling each other and telling their brother lemmings how great that place is/was. Now? Not so much 1,978 shooters in the MAIN event. The "premier" clay target event in the world. Held at the WORLD shooting complex. And they get LESS shooters. To tell you the truth, I'm surprised they got that many.
I got 1,978 for event 24 from the ata website Why doesn't it surprise me that on one "results" page the number is 1,978 and on another it is 2,002 ata math?
"A lot of shooters" Compared to what? I don't have my laptop in front of me, can someone look up how many SCTP kids shot the main singles at the Cardinal Center? I think it was a LOT.
Look here ..... http://scores.shootata.com/Statistics/Index/1294 ..... It says ..... Total Number of Classified Shooters 3510 ..... 24 H ..... 1978 ..... So ..... 1532 of these "Classified Shooters" did not shoot the GAH ..... Was it the weather ????? sun and light winds makes it tough for the never-was occupy-the-27 shooters have an excuse for breaking a 72 ..... so weather, or ?????
I looked at a list of all scores shot. At the end were a number of names with a zero for a score. that is likely the difference in 1978 and 2002. !978 should be the offical count. If this goes on much longer we will be able to have the grand on any 12 trap club. Good direction for a guy making $200,000,00 plus bonus a year. I wonder how much he would make if the organization was growing? Roger C.
Well, PA had 1,604 entries in the Singles event in 2006. Ran over 52 traps too. I'd say the grand is just a bigger PA State Shoot.
The Ohio State Shoot had 1600 in the Handicap in 1975 ran on I believe 40 traps, but might have been 48 but it was the second event as doubles was shot first. It could have been the weather, it could have been gas prices, it could have been the economy. I'll bet the hunter 44's of the world have all kinds of could haves. You and I know it was one thing. Location, Location, Location. Maybe also a lot of distrust from the members for the EC and the fantastic direction the ATA is headed. I'd think that 14 years of excuses would be enough.
"I'll bet the hunter 44's of the world have all kinds of could haves". Like I wish I could shoot as well as some of the guys on our site? To his credit though, HE is in the running for the best salesman we have.
30,562 total entries so that would be $30,562 dollars @ $1 per entry toward the HOF building debt … WPT … (YAC) …
They could have gotten another $2,022. All they needed was the 4,000 people that sidney claimed would be there for event 24. From now on that is how I'm going to refer to it. EVENT 24 Might as well call it that because it sure ain't "grand". And if the duty watch doesn't like that? SO WHAT
They will have to up the donation to $2.00 next year. Most likely to get the same amount of money. Roger C. The scores were not very good this year. I wonder what the average was.
Rog, You friend attempted to not pay his Voluntary Fee and got the answer we all figured he would. Thank him for trying, and you for letting us know how that issue went . Wonder how much more is left on that loan now. Over $30,000.00 grand from shooters, and $10,000.00 from a dead man's gun money, this time around. Can't be much left, but I look for Mr. Bradford to ask that the $1.00 fee be imposed on ALL Satellite Grands until the loan is paid. Only speculation (and giving Bradford an idea) on my part .
