The Cardinal Center will now be the home grounds of the National Shooting Sports Foundation for the next 10 years. There will be further capital improvements at the Cardinal Center.

This includes the SCTP and more. Details following.

Thanks to you guys in the trenches chasing this stuff. Always on top of it when facts matter.

    I report. You decide.

Told ya so :D not bad for a WAG. But I did think they might extend the 3 year deal with the SCTP to get to 10 years total.

Now if I could only guess the Power Ball numbers;)

Thank You Merlo. With all the info you collect maybe you should change that Blackbird avatar to a pic of an SR71, the fastest Blackbird.

And CONGRATS to Mr. Fishburn and the staff at the CC for securing the event.
Also CONGRATS to the SCTP for having the wisdom to stay there.

I can't wait to here all the weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. This should be good.

Whoever has the duty watch better report to the Kool-Aid stand on the double.

The above has not been confirmed. More like a wild ass wish. Sparta could do well without SCTP. AIM is doing fine. If it were in black and white with blue ink at the bottom it wouldn’t be much of a story.

No paper. Not even a story.

That didn't take long. And a new guy at that. The duty watch must have read my post and reported as ordered.

Stick around "Sid", it gets better.

For the Cardinal Center and the SCTP anyway.

    For sparta? not so much.

Maybe the guys running the WSRC and/or the ata should have offered the kids free targets.

That probably would have convinced them to go back there.

Attn Flyer. They (Gipson) did offer free targets for 3 years.

DECADE of fun for the SCTP!

Not sure what Sid is talking about being as the WSRC in Sparta has not and probably never will do well, the pathetic attendance has dropped with the exception of one year they broke 2000 shooters (2003 ) in what was once the biggest Champion Trap Shooting Tournament in the World … The WSRC cannot even support its own existence which may end up being a Major problem in the near future with the new Governor (Pritzger) who does not like guns or people who like guns … Sounds to me like Sparta Sid has been farting in the bath tub and biting the bubbles thinking they are air fresheners … The State of Illinois is not saying much on the States web site so we can only guess what's going on in the State of Corruption … The ATA best hope they can stay at the WSRC in Sparta being as I do not think they have any place else to go … WPT … (YAC) …

"Sparta COULD (not only) do well without SCTP" ..... heck, "Sparta is headed in a FANTASTIC DIRECTION" .....

This great advice from "Trapwife" about the Hall of Failure forced "donation" ..... "There are 24 events during the Grand (25 if you qualify for Champion of Champions). $36 fee to ATA for their expenses, including but not limited to targets, trophies, and personnel. IDNR gets an additional $3 for facilities. Now there is a new fee for the HOF Museum FACILITY. If this bothers you greatly, skip 1 event and you'll save $40. That more than covers the new $1 fee for the 23 other events you signed up for..."

My advice is ...... "If this bothers you greatly, skip [ALL] event(s)" .....

Why would Trapwife care or give financial advise, she don't shoot ... I could see her telling the Big Guy (RIP) don't shoot one event and cut your pay check considerably ...

My advice is ...... "If this bothers you greatly, skip [ALL] event(s)" .....<<<<===== Best advice yet ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Mr. Bradford should get Trapwife on board to help run the THOF.

I have heard that she likes to help out any way she can, and she would be of a great help to them with her promotional skills.

That being said, I don't even know who IS taking the lead at the place while it's open any more.

Tami Daniel, who was the greatest gal running the museum in Vandalia has left the organization, and I have NO idea who will be in charge of the daily operations now.

    Here is the story sid.
    https://sssfonline.org/sctp-and-sas...at-the-cardinal-shooting-center-through-2029/

Hell of a "wild ass wish" huh? Didn't we also read something about more improvements ?

"Beginning in 2020, the Cardinal Shooting Center will add 6-8 additional skeet fields as well as the possibility for additional American Trap and Bunker Trap facilities in the future."

If it was no big deal for sparta, gipson and the the ata wouldn't have offered free targets to try and lure them back. Looks to me as though the kids have pretty smart leaders running their organization.

A decade without SCTP in Sparta. Gives them time to come up with a better sales plan. Not sure what beats free targets.

Sparta sid said that place in Illnews "could do well" without all those shooters so it must not matter if they ever go back.

    Right sid?

Me thinks that in 10 years they will have a lot more to worry about.

When the CC trips up, Sparta will be there.

  21. Flyersarebest

Flyersarebest Moderator Founding Member Forum Leader

There are two things wrong with that statement

The first is that Mr. Fisburn and the crew at the CC might ever "trip up". They "stepped up" when that place in Illnews screwed up", hence the new 10 YEAR contract, and from what I have read they will "step up" their efforts to make their premier facility even better.
And the second, the one you and the rest of the Kool-Aid crowd SHOULD be worried about is if that place in Illnews will still even be there

Yes, the town of Sparta will probably be there along with it's major attraction-the Walmart. The trap range-not as likely.

Sidney Poitier insisted that the movie be filmed in the North because of an incident in which he and Harry Belafonte were almost killed by Ku Klux Klansmen during a visit to Mississippi. That's why Sparta, IL, was chosen for location filming. Nevertheless, the filmmakers and actors did venture briefly into Tennessee for the outdoor scenes at the cotton plantation, because there was no similar cotton plantation in Illinois that could be used. Poitier slept with a gun under his pillow during production in Tennessee. He did receive threats from local racist thugs, so the shoot was cut short and production returned to Illinois.
