The Doc has thrown down the gloves. The challenge to username x.

    Cardinal Classic or Knox?

Charity to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Erie, PA.

While I have no interest in driving to Ohio to shoot against anyone, I did attend the 2008 Ohio State Shoot and had a good time, shooting 800 targets to Gary's 100, though his handicap was better than mine by a few birds. I am certainly willing to face off against Dr. Longshot and reckon my chances are pretty good. How about this?

    1. We both go the Grand and either match our HOA scores (I plan to shoot the whole program as I always do) or just the Championship targets. I'd be willing to drop off the doubles if that would be fairer.

(An edit here to make things more clear) Or if Sparta is too far or too many targets, how about just matching our skills at our own state shoots? We will both be there, I assume.

    2. We both attend our respective State Shoots and follow the same plan, either the HOA or the Championship events, again, with or without the doubles.

Winner to be decided by combined total scores on the counted events, which, of course, must cover the same number of events.

    Yours in Sport,

    Neil

    Eddie--I strongly disagree.

Neil's answer is as useful as yesterday's graph. Ohio is the home of the grudge match. The doc threw the gloves off in the name of charity.

Doc is a nearly a on legged shooter relying on social security. This is a huge dodge.

    Eddie--I strongly agree.

With the constant barrage of negative comments toward him, Neil has rose above the controversy and put himself in the spotlight in the name of charity.

The charity benefits not the location.

A true gentleman and sportsman! Way to go Neil!!

I guess if it's got to be in Ohio, the aptly-named "Home of Grudges," I guess I'm not a entrant. Good luck finding someone else.

I will, however, make an "Ohio typical" donation to a named charity of the Match's choice if and when a pair of participants can be found.

If .... "Doc has thrown down the gloves" ....

I think the offer to accept was within reason.

    This is Pure Rubish,
Neil Winston is playing his games again, He is playing an end around and trying to bait the Dr. to a Grudge Match at Sparta "The home of the
Thiefs". Dr. Longshot, do not fall for his crap. any Grudge Match has to be held in Ohio. Neil W. and his buddies stole the Grand to land of now where
and now he is trying to get the Grudge Match moved there also. This is more than about Charity, It is about Honesty and Integrity.
The Grudge Match if held, will be held in the Land of Trapshooting, The great State of Ohio. ......
Why does Neil not want to set foot in Ohio, I think he feels he will lose his scalp....what there is of it...hee, hee

In the early years of documented shotgunning history, many heads_up (ie grudge matches) were shot in the state of Illinois. While possibly did occur in Ohio, none come to mind.

So Family Guy, you are wrong in stating that Ohio is the home of grudge matches. An event that occurred over a century after the initial does not one_up the event because its two centuries later.

Neil's challenge was a true challenge not a one day, low quota event. Neils format will decidedly represent the true and better shotgun pointer. So if your wanting to place emphasis on representation in regards to declaration, Neils way is the only way to decide.

How could a person standing on the 18 yd. line and shooting since 07 with a grand total of 12,000 targets have sooooo much knowledge about the sport of trapshooting?

Certainly you did not think someone dependent on SS would be able to shoot a whole program or two. And you surely did not think the one legged shooter was going to shoot a whole program. What next? Sprints?

Longshot was man enough to throw the gloves off and make the challenge despite his physical handicap. I saw the old fart shoot. He is a fighter. Ask Big Don. He can put it together for a 50 birds event. He is not on the 27. He no longer has a AA average but I would put him against most shooters.

Deepbackwood, are you up to the challenge?

Now about Neil's response. I thought his second response was extremely gentlemanly and sporting. His decision to decline the event certainly is disappointing, but his offer to donate to the charity is beyond admirable. To that Neil gets kudos from me. jmho

So crude per your comment above. Is this the present mission statement of this site now, evidently? It was said that this type of response would not be tolerated and quite frankly I would think any child above 2nd grade could derive a more intellectual response.

But to the point of your reference. As so often witnessed on this site, correctness/relatively/validity in posted statements is ignored. Apparently yet again you are seeking recognition in your response for a false scenario of an event!

Deepbackwood, are you up to the challenge?

Well Family Guy, Dysinger stated awhile back on a thread that it wasn't worth his time to face a challenge for less than $3000-$4000. Maybe I feel the same. Is that the amount agreed to?

    Deepbackwood,

Grudge matches are about the charity. Taking money away from the Shriner's Children's Hospital probably would not be appropriate.

I am sure you could make your own personal wager at the Dysinger Throw Down. It is at Knox in Columbiana County, Ohio.

You will find good food, plenty of wagering opportunities, gun giveaway, and a good time. Great charity as well!

I wanted to remind eveyone that the intent of a Grudge Match or Throwdown is to benefit a charity. So with that in mind why don't we pit Dr. Longshot against Neil Winston with folks making their donation to the Al Koran Shrine for their person of choice with all of the proceeds from the voting to go along with other monies collected during our shoot to go to Childrens Hospital in Erie PA. I will have a plaque made up for the "2015 Grudge Charity Champion" and make sure the winner receives it.

Each dollar collected will count as 1 vote for the person of your choice.

    Donations can be sent to:

    Al Koran Shrine Center
    1000 E. Edgerton Road
    Broadview Heights, OH 44147

Please indicate on your check who you will be voting for.

    Thanks

I assume we can donate at the door to the Children's Hospital in the names of either person.

Neil originally accepted in a way no one had to travel very far (post #2) and the Ohio end refused. And it even was for a charity located in Ohio!!

Family Guy, yes to your question.

Leonidas, I read post#2 and it looks like it involves the Grand and the respective State Shoot for that particular person, I did not see an OR between point#1 and point#2.

Lets have Neil give us his opinion. If it is in fact just the State Shoot the good Doctor may be in for that but we will have to have both of them confirm their attendance.

I forsee a problem with setting this up, in that Mr. Bryant has me, according to what I read, on ignore. Since I cannot be expected to wait around on this forever in hopes that he may someday reply, I have assigned a time limit to the offer I proposed in the second post on this thread.

My offer is valid until midnight, 1 March, 2015 - that is, until very late Sunday night. Should it not be accepted by that time, I will turn over the spot being held for me to another hopeful. It should be easy to find a replacement, one living closer to the venue proposed in Gary's original challenge, and wouldn't a match between local players, each with a cadre of supporters in the area, make for a more interesting and profitable-to-charity event anyway?

    Yours in Sport,

    Neil

Hey FG, is LS aware of your thread?

  28. Family Guy

Squatty- - - I am not sure about the aware part but it seems LS threw down the gloves in the direction of OH only. And to that a face to face grudge match, Ohio style.

At most the doc can stand for 50 target events. I do not see him shooting more than that. The reply by Neil to donate to the charity was as I stated earlier:
I doubt you will hear more from either party.

It is easy to sit in your armchair and say LS is full of crap and cant shoot. You can call Dysinger a has been. You can thump your chest about how easy 3 hole targets are.

Doc has been in the arena. He has been in many a shoot-off.

If you want a chance at the Doc or Dysinger there will be plenty of chest thumping at the "Dysinger Throw Down"!

I plan on making the trip. Bring your money or your pride. :)
