While looking at my Lyman manual I noticed that consistently the WJ wad with near identical powder/primer combinations registers a significantly lower pressure while maintaining velocity.... anyone know why? Measurements are close to the Blue Duster's I am using but the WJ is quit a bit lighter and crushes more easily..... A powder I like to use is pretty high pressure if I load up to 1200+ fps..... If I could test some using the WJ and drop the pressure it might be a good combination.......... Larry
I use windjammer style wads. I don’t know what it is about them but they load great and shoot even better. Less pressure = less recoil. I can load handicap loads that shoot softer than anything else. I consistently hit targets hard from the back fence No problem.
Fed. 209A, 20.5/22 grns. Green Dot, Windjammer wad, 1 1/8 oz of shot, in a Federal Paper. That's Charmin soft shooting.
