buddy of mine is trying to sell me a 3200 combo, usual O/U with a unsingle barrel, with raised comb, gracoil, and double release triggers. anyone ever heard of an 3200 with a unsingle, what's it worth?

These were quite common, made by Stan Baker, whatever you can get.

I currently have one. The unsingle was made by Simmons. It is tubed with Briley thinwall, custom stock with adjustable comb. 30 inch O/U bbls Former owner Paul Sedwick (Warwick Gun Case Co.)I have it insured at 4500. Also I had a combo set with a Baker unsingle I traded that for a Mach One a few years back got 3300 in trade.

so were the unsingles completely custom made? or were they made from an over under barrel? Remington didn't make them?

As far as I know they were all custom made. The very first one I had was made by Briley. It was a O/U 30 inch upper barrel cut to the end of the fore end and a high rib was installed. The problem with that one was that the rib and the bib post was milled out of one piece of aluminum. The shock waves of the shell going off cause the rib post to vibrate like a tuning fork and rip the solder joint off the barrel. Briley repaired it 3 times that I know of and then I traded it off and the new owner sent it to Simmons for a new rib.

The combo sets were all aftermarket completions. Simmons and Baker made several barrels each. The first one I seen was mid 70's done by Simmons. There are at least two top singles as well.

I also had a Baker .780 bore 32 inch top single for a 3200. My stupidity was I sold the O/U and receiver as the buyer did not want the top single and it did not fit my other combo and would be too expensive to have it fitted so I sold it. That barrel shot very well. Not much for a shot string but a hell of a pattern.

ken are these baker over bores like using a hunting type Patternmaster choke? very short shot string all shot in a very small pattern? worked well for shooting Canada geese decoying but sucked for pass shooting.

That is right nudehunter. Straight away targets get crushed but have to have the right lead on angle targets no shot string to help you out. The barrel I had used Briley ML16 (10ga) choke tubes.

I have never seen one that was 34".

  12. I owned a top bbl.single 34 in.and a bottom bbl.34 in. Unsingle. The top bbl.single shot 100% full at 40 yds.won many a turkey at board shoots with it. The unsingle had winchester choke tubes.I shot the top single Best.they were both made by Simmons and I bought them in 76 and77.

  13. I also had a friend who had a 32 in. 3200 and wanted me to cut the bottom bbl. Off and make it a single bbl. I cut the bottom bbl.off and pluged nice and put a recoil reducer in the bot. Bbl.

Remington custom shop made some combos with an over single. You had to know someone to get one, most were made for the reps or someone really important.
