Last year I was shooting 200 singles at a state shoot and the teen to my left was wearing ear bud/plugs. The music was so loud I could hear it. Unfortunately the young lad could not hear himself call for the target. After about 50 birds he would have to call for most birds at least twice.

Shoot management was kind enough to put me on another squad for the second hundred.

Wondering if any else had the problem.

    Clipper,

I play the music while shooting but I doubt you would be able to hear it. What, shoot management allowed you to change at the 100 break? If I call for the target you know I called.

    I am a screamer!

I bought my ear phone/plugs at the Cardinal Center from the guy in Akron. I love them. I listen to fight songs and moan loud for the target! I only have to moan once. The target always launches!

I have been with music ear plugs since the 90's first it was with tape then CD now with IPOD. I have the volume up just enough for me to hear my music and I can hear most shooters next to me call for the target. The gun report is not load at all but the wife says I'm hard of hearing anyway.

I don't know anyone where I shoot that wears them. I have always wanted to try them but I'm afraid I won't like them and I will be out the money. I never used to think this way until I retired and went to one paycheck a month lol. Rick

Basfshmn, What some have tried is to use ear buds to your Ipod and to cover with earmuffs. Custom molded ear buds can run up to and over $200 Also I feel that you need the correct tempo of music to match your shooting style. Example fast tempo for fast shooting etc.

I had a tape player w/sublimal in the sound of ocean waves, so what did I do? I bought a Bass Boat and started fishing, I could hear just once, Keep Your Head Down, Concentrate, Break Those Little Sons a B*tches, I swear on this, The tape player broke and I don't know what happened to the tape. I got those ear muffs w/small ear buds somewhere around here.

I usually use custom formed ear plugs. But fr the larger events where there's a large group of people around, I switch to my IPod plugs. But, if I had them on so high that other people could hear them, I would be so deaf that why would I need them at all. If someone had them set so high, I would mention something to the person after the round.

Jerry Bryant made a set for me and I have enjoyed using them. I've had some good and bad rounds with them, but that's me. It works for some and not for others.

I listen to music all the time. My mind drifts to bad thoughts. I paid like $160 for the molded ones and they are WORTHLESS. the people who make them don't fix them so I sent them to the main factory and they worked 2 day and stopped working again. So I got the $20 plugphones and they are great. os

I broke a 200 straight using those things many years ago. I haven't broken one again-since!!
