ALERT: Fellow ATA Trap Shooters.

I have peeked in at Trapshooters a couple of time since Americantrapshooter.com
came on board. Today I looked again and scrolled up and down and not one thread about
the 70,000 to 100,000 targets that the ATA disqualified. It is getting that most of the
items on the other site are not even trap shooting related. There are titles about such things as Blind Dates, cool airplanes,drones,help me plan my summer trip and other such junk..

It makes me wonder just how lucky we are to have Americantrapshooters.com on board for us Trapshooters. Beware: do not le the management or ownership of this site fall into
the wrong hands like the other site did.

Somebody at the club last week was saying that in addition to that site being completely polluted with ads, members are already being shaken down for money. If you don't pay, you "lose features." Not sure what that means, and I don't care, but it does prove that what so many said would happen is in fact happening. Pay to play.

There was a thread on the site mentioned above about the cheating and loss of targets and it disappeared one day. I saw the ATA had purchased a banner ad with the new owners in which mabee gives them some influence on controling the board. If not, there are plenty of mods and members over there that needs to spit and not swallow when it comes to blindly following the leaders of the ATA.

The targets fiasco had been beat to death at ts.com already.

The "help me plan my vacation" thread was a guy asking for places to shoot across Florida which is not out of line. If you remember correctly our good dr longshot had a thread looking for a female hookup a while back on the other website.

You are correct about a bunch of junk threads and the money shakedown.

On another note this website is thriving on anti- ATA posts but eventually that will die down. The big question is will it drive enough potential members away that this website will also die with it? Even in agreement, a subject will turn against the messenger if thats all there is to offer.

Are you sure? I looked and saw the "drones" and "blind date" threads were in the "Off Topics" sections and the "pay for features" has been dropped and the features restored to the users.

 

Lew - this subject has been covered on the other site months ago. This is not new news. Also, most of the threads you referenced are in the off topic section. This site has one too, with some of the same posters.

Michael - As to the deleted thread, it was deleted by the original poster. I know because I asked him. To quote "I deleted it. I got tired of former ATA president Neil Winston being a smug prick and prioritizing the process over the integrity of the game. The process doesn't matter if the membership goes away." So no conspiracy there.

The 'other-site' reminds me of some 'Trade-Shows' ... charge people to park, charge everyone to enter, charge the vendors to 'set-up', charge anyone who will pay to advertise, get a 'cut' of food sales, and any other way to squeeze out as much money as possible ... and then may have no interest in the 'theme' of the show. It really ran off the rails when, as one person put it, some of the main posters had more posts on the site, than life-time clay targets shot. And they knew more about everything than anyone else. And would start with the childish replies if you didn't agree with them. Then the decision to re-ban the person generating the highest number of views on any thread, makes no sense in the business of drawing attention to your investment.

The 'interest' in viewing 'cyber-chat' is to gain information, and/or see opposing views on each topic. If everyone would always agree, it would 'dry-up'.

The key is the 'owners' having an interest in the theme, and control the disagreements. Both of which they are doing a very good job here.

 

Of course you can come here and see the same threads discussed every day by the same 10 posters. Maybe 5 to 10 threads opened for the day. Why don't you worry about making your Ohio web site better instead of the same posters grousing about the same things and saying false things.

Lew you just spread pure BS about the other site. They have more posters posting in a day about more things than this site does in week. I am still waiting for some good, informative threads about trapshooting.

I see someone started a rumor about Sparta closing, now that is a real upbeat trap subject.

Ask away, there are plenty of guys on here that have shot tens of thousands of Trap targets and that is just the "registered" ones. Since those targets are not the ONLY kind many of us have shot the total number could be ten times that. I'm pretty sure any questions you have would be answered.

It appears that this site is degrading towards similar atmosphere as the one being complained about so consistently. It took the other site 15 years to descend to its present climate (approx. 2012) and this site hasn't reached its 2 month birthday and look at many of the posts. Especially longshots with his continual drivel, false statements, constant belittlement, personal negative statements (NW) and yet he seems cuddled here for his efforts.

All I am saying is watch what's happening here before you surpass what you criticise!

 

There is only a few that post some crap and that is not all the time. We still have a great site here.

 

Sometimes Kentucky 9"s are the best choice for hard, hard targets ( 4's and 5's). Brad
