Do we say atta boy or good girl on this one? The issue has been discussed before here. I have a problem with this. Just old school or reasonable?

What is the criteria for this? What would you check for?

 

--It is the people born female that are getting burned on this deal. This is happening because they are not screaming about it. Your rights get taken these days if you just sit there and let it happen.

 

Was this the Transgender that was the ATA talk of the town years back, or a new one. Was their an Equipment Check Done?

The ATA just needs more Categories F to M & M to F that's 2 more categories, then age groups for them, Sub Vet, Vet and Senior Vet, and ! and ll total of 10 more categories.

If I were a woman (born one ) , I would protest the living hell out of having a transgender female as competition ... I'm not buying all that crap about "I am what I feel I am not what I appear to be" BS ... Males and females bodies have totally different make ups internally ... I have seen a few of them, they had to be UGLY men because they are UGLY enough to scare a skunk off of a Gut Wagon as females ... This world is screwed big time ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Connecticut high school track had two transgender people win the 100 and 200 girls track championship this year with record setting times. I guess it is a different world we live in today. -- I just shake my head and keep shooting

Seriously this should be a wake up call for clubs to do away with all categories and go to a class and yardage system like trap shooting had in the beginning. Shooters need to be grouped by ability not how they feel or how they were born. Take the Joke out of the ATA and get back to competition.

We have many small clubs around here in Northwest Ohio that shoot non registered, NON DENOMINATIONAL, meat shoots. The women and the kids are just like the men, old or young, all treated the same no matter how they feel. The program 25 16 yard targets, 25 20 yard targets, 8 shooters to a class 4 winners per class, Shoot as often as you like.

No AAA, no occupy the 27, no transgender (at least not declared) no registered daily fees. Trap Shooting the way it was supposed to be and still is. Brad

Yes a religious metaphor My reference is comparing a god loving person, not a church loving one. I've been surrounded by convenient Christians all my life. The ones who go to church on Sunday and screw their fellow man every other day of the week. The ones who worship a preacher instead of god. TV evangelists come to mind.

I think the ATA EC is made up of convenient trap shooters who think themselves special, who need a special advantage to win and to hell with everyone else. The small club shoots around here don't fall into that ATA mold, although many of these shooters used to be ATA shooters but left. Much like the non denominational churches that have sprung up around my area in the last few years the clubs that are staying close to there trap shooting roots are doing fine. Practicing the sport of trap shooting, not the worship of the GRAND. Brad

Everyone should carry a sign to registration. Numbers are put on the backs of SCTP contestants. "Male" or "Female" signs can be given out at registration. No confusion.

 

Today you are supposed to be taken seriously if you feel like you are something you appear not to be. SO--if I go to a trapshoot and feel that day like I am really a 12 year old African American girl will I be able to compete for the Junior minority female trophy? There better be one or I could sue the place couldn't I?

Brad -- That is the exact pace in life I am At-- All our local club are- NON DENOMINATIONAL- NON ATA- Gets your ass kicked first round -You don't sign up with that group for the second round - By the end of the day everyone finds their competitive level - men, women, and kids alike , and all have a great time. Have lost to many a great lady shooters - I guess a guy in a dress would feel about the same.

 

With my cynical sense of humor I kinda got myself in the management "dog house" before I retired. A male employee came down asking to change his name to Doris and identity to female on company records. I told my friend, the EEO Administrator, that I had always wanted to be thought of as an American Indian and be on company records as "Works With Turkeys". Got the idea from Dances With Wolves. A (person) who was born a male (human) and still (appeared) to be a male while in High School in one of the biggest Montana cities came back to be the main speaker at the graduation ceremony for the class of 2015 for the very same high school that he attended in the 1980's. The (person's) picture was in the paper. The person smiled like Debbie Boone did when she'd just spit out the last syllables of You Light Up My Life on American Bandstand and just got invited over to sit all up and on the stage with Dick Clark. I live in a state with a "He/She/It" as governor. Another has decided to run for US House of Representatives. Awards are given nationwide for "participation".......... Meat shoots, Annie's, whatever we have 2 groups....... Pro and amateur, we let shooters pick their own level and only very rarely have to say "move over to Pro" to anyone........ From the Dalles East is pretty much rural, basic truths, very independent and perhaps "redneck"??? Be an idiot if you want but do not throw it in my face or expect me to support or condone it might describe the majority attitude. We see the liberals coming in. For the most part the West side of Oregon has become liberal trash........... take a look around you guys.... the happening at ATA is typical of what is happening to our nation........ Larry on that note let me tell you a true story. I am officially registered as a Black, Hispanic. In 2010 I made the census lady come to my house to fill it out. I pitched every thing they sent me that year into the trash and I'll tell you they will come to your door. I was mad at Obama and figured if he could claim to be American I could claim to be black. How could they say I'm not. I threw in the Hispanic because of what the Mexican woman supreme court judge said that a female Mexican could make better decisions that a white man. So I opted-ed to become a Black Hispanic. I told them I didn't mind switching races but I'd be damn if I would become a woman.

I have to agree. Shooting is one sport where women can and do compete on an equal footing with men. Hell, some young teens can compete on an equal footing with adult men and women.
And there are a lot of 70-something shooters that can whip the likes of you and me; they don't need a separate category to be competitive. Class and yardage is all we need.
