Are Illinois shooters boycotting Sparta?

After the first week of shooting there have been a little over 400 shooters from Illinois that actually made the trip to Illinois.

I ask.....if the Grand was in OH, how many Ohioans would be attending? Why use OH as the bar? If it was in PA how many from PA would attend?

If attendance doesn't hit 4,000, you can blame Illinois. The problem is not in the backyard of OH or PA.

 

Why do you care?
For someone that's stated many, many times how you won't ever attend the Grand in " that gun hate state", you sure seem worried about attendance and finding someone or some place to blame if attendance doesn't rival that of longlong Vandalia.
People that want to and are able to attend will and those that don't or can't, won't.
Doesn't matter where they are from.
It obviously hasn't mattered to those from South America that keep coming back.
It only seems to matter to you.

 

I was recently at the Grand. I tried to sleep overnight in my car at Walmart. Nope. Police told me that was not acceptable. They asked my for my driver's license and wanted to know if I had guns in the car. Point being I was there. Something many Illinois shooters obviously cant say.

Are there more people from South America in attendance than Illinois?

 

I wonder how many New Jersey shooters would attend if it were held in New Jersey, or how about Rhode Island?

 

If it were in Rhode Island you would have more from Rhode Island than South America. You would have more than 400 shooters from Jersey too.

 

The numbers I saw were for preliminary events as the Grand events start tomorrow.
There were 400 + from Illinois,
68 from Brazil
100 + from Ohio
Almost 100 from PA
A couple each from New Zealand, S. Africa, and the UK
Again, these numbers are from Preliminary events.
Let's see after next week how weak Illinois numbers are and how many traitors from Ohio, Pennsylvania,New Jersey or Mississippi show up.

 

Ahhhh there you have it. "Traitors from Ohio." Are they traitors for going or not going? Why only 400 from Illinois?. Ohio and PA have close to that many for zone and meat shoots.

 

If 68 are there from Brazil then how many from Brazil would attend if the Grand were held there?

Guess it depends on whether Brazil is a " gun hate country"?
Would you go if it was held in Brazil?
Would you go if they had meat shoots there?

 

I would prefer Brazil over Illinois. 2 to 1

Although the west field at Vandalia was filled with the blue collar shooters sleeping in their cars, I slept under the huge maple at the entrance. Slept in my old chevy van. But times were GRAND then.

WSRC rules. No sleeping in cars. Sparta City rules....no sleeping in cars. After the kind police escort off the property I wont spend much money there.

And FYI.....the sleeping in your car rule was a 3 squad car violation. Great welcome wagon.

Another reason. As many here know I own a Pilot Car / Escort business. I can tell you where many of the bedbugs infestations are. Detroit, Southwest Cincy, Nashville, Baltimore, and South St Louis area.

Once, I woke up in the morning looking like I was a pattern board at 45 yards. Lots of bloody dots. Never again.

 

I will bet the IL folks will turn out the second week, to attend the end of it all.

I think this needs to be up by the vendor thread. The lack of local support will be what kills Sparta. All you have to do is go to a shopping ,mall today and look at those crowds. Sears. Penny's, and a bunch of other anchor stores are going out of business. Once the anchor store closes the mall is right behind. So will be the Sparta dream.

 

The Grand will be at Sparta for many years. The ATA and the local politicians committed to this during the opening ceremony.

If all 2000 plus shooters spent an average of $4,000 as Roger spent, that's $8 million for an 11 day shoot.

 

Above post is right. That was felon Blagojevich, federal inmate now. A few days later he gave his infamous I hate guns speech at the capital and then gutted the IDNR.

Now the new terms are that the place will be maintained at bare minimum standards. Toilet paper not included.
