Last night I got back from one of the clubs I belong to meeting. Why do the sobs who don't do any work to help the club make any money are the same ones who want to give all of the club's money away?
The answer is they have not sweat equity in the money that has been earn buy the club!!!!!!!! All they want to spend!!! Been their and done that and burns my a##s everytime.!!
If Elsie won't answer -- I sure will -- Every work day at our club the same five or six people show up - painting - mowing -fixing up whats broke -Then comes the annual banquet and meeting - And annual financial report -- Boy we made a buck Last year - that's when a wantabee wants to vote for Free beer at next years banquet- Or how about a $500 dollar donation to the local 4th of July fireworks {for the same people trying to shut us down} [The answer is they have no sweat equity in the money that has been earned buy the club!!!!!!!! rrisum....Been there done that too. I was affiliated with 2 clubs from the mid-70s to the late 80s. Always the same few of us to do everything. When we had the annual dinner and member meeting all the "yottas" showed up. You otta do this or that, everyone had an opinion. Many never showed up to shoot but they knew everything. Regards.....Gerald
Gerald..Ain't it the truth !!! The ones that never lifted a finger at one of our old clubs did the exact same thing. When my wife was the president of the club one of these guys stood up at a meeting and told the BOD HE wanted a cleaning station built so he didn't have to clean his gun at home... Her Reply was : "Good idea *****, I believe the BOD will vote to put YOU in charge of getting details and prices, and then we can consider it." NEVER heard another peep out of him ~~~
Here it is 6 months later from my original post and the same sobs came to our meeting tonight looking for money for their pet projects away from the club. $150 - to buy soccer balls for some effing youth team, another clown wanted another $200 to put up a basketball goal somewhere, another clown hit us for another - $150 because somebody farted somewhere. Then the last clown came and sold raffle tickets for an 870 at OUR CLUB but proceeds are to benefit his model airplane flying club, etc.. Go sell your effing tickets at your airplane club. These clowns I'm referring to - are members but we never see em until they need money. We are a "Conservation Club" in name and we do donate money to game wardens when they have a need for something, and we donate money for youth shooting and wildlife, etc.. But every dam penny we take in is because of what we make off of our trap field and shooting. I digress but back to the clowns - I've never seen any of the sobs tonight who asked for money do one thing for the club to earn money. I've never seen a one of em: load a traphouse, pull a round, pick up hulls, recycle target boxes, sell chances, fill a heater up with kerosene, work the effing food counter, haul a load of trash, cut firewood..... Heck - actually I've only seen one of em even at any of our shoots and all that sob does is come and eat, and sit in front of the fireplace when it is cold. sorry to vent, but just poed again. I guess every club is like that - just getting tired of it.
Elsie...I may have a solution. Inform them if they are soliciting at the club for other than shooting sponsorships they owe the club a percentage of the monies, say 10% or whatever. Using the club monies for other purposes shouldn't be tolerated. Regards.....Gerald
Elsie, Introduce a motion to include all members giving a set amount of volunteer time working at the club or they can donate to the club X amount of dollars per set hours of volunteering time and skip the work parties. Then you can use the money to employ the teens in the club or give them X amount of free rounds of trap for their services. The motion may not carry, but it will open up some eyes and tighten up some shorts. Roger C.
I guess I should be glad they are only nickel and diming us for $150-$250 a pop! We use to have a county commissioner who WAS a member of our club. When he showed up he wanted thousands. Anytime some school booster fund needed a few thousand he would come put the tap on us. He would remind us of how beneficially it was for the club to have a county commissioner as a member. He didn't get reelected a few years ago and haven't seen hide or hair of him since. I've tired of the whole thing and am thinking about switching sides. I think it is time to join the side that sits on their arse, and does nothing. LOL I shouldn't knock it till I've at least tried it.
frostyman, the former county commissioner member is a Democrat. I'm so effing glad he didn't get reelected and is no longer a member of the club. Never saw that sob do anything, except show up at our meetings and ask for money. When we would have one of our bigger shoots he would show up to smooze with the public and sit at the head table and act like a wheel.
