I just finished reading "The Double Shotgun" by Don Zutz.

In his book he shows a picture of a prototype of the Ljutic SxS Double Barrel Space Gun which had been hoped to be in production in the spring of 1985.

Researching, I cannot find out anything about this gun or if it ever made it into production.

Any Ljutic fans have any information about this prototype ?

    Thanks !

Over the years there were lots of prototypes from Al Ljutic. I have one of the Ljutic rifles and one of the Ljutic side by side 22 magnum pistols. I have seen a lot of the guns that never made it into production, there was Space Gun rifle and a revolver that Al put together.

Ljutic sold the rights (and patent) to the rifle I have to Winchester and it is where the Winchester Model 100 came from. The one I have was built in the 40's and the Army test from 1944 on the Ljutic Rifle are still available on line.

I saw Al shoot a double SxS on the practice trap at Vandalia around 1982. Looked like a version of the space gun. Noticed him going through quite a routine to load the thing, each barrel had its own bolt to be opened, loaded then closed. He was shooting doubles and mostly making little smoke balls.

    Ed,

I shot NY State ATA all over NY and never have seen one...it must be a rare piece that is never shot.

    What a collectible !

He doesn't shoot much registered. Mostly a club shooter, when he's not working. He has several Ljutic's that Al made special for him. Last time that I saw him, he was shooting at North Jersey Clay Target Club.
