I shoot ATA. Non-ATA evens don't interest me and speed is limited in the events I attend so I would't go.

However, if clubs want to throw fast-target events to see if they are popular, I say "Go for it,"

In shootouts where the both of us are just wasting ammo we've cranked up the speed. It is fun. And I actually seem to do very well at high speeds. One thing about higher speeds is that if there is a wind condition present the target tends not to be effected as much. Now if they were to slow the darn thing down on a windy day......whoa!

I'm sure they don't. Don't want to screw up that great caps average you carry?

I hear ol'N1H1 is getting a "handicap event" added to the "grand" to bring his average up .....

It is going to be called "The 13 Yard Pattern Board Challenge" ..... After every fifth shot you get to take your crayons and color the paper to get a "score" ..... With his "one million shell" advantage, he should "dominate" this "event" bringing his "handicap average" up .....

There is a club near Shelby Ohio that we always called Snake Road. Not sure if that is the real name of the club or if that is just the name of the road it is located on. Rod Stumbo used to run a 60 bird, two-man protection Calcutta shoot there once a month. It was not uncommon to have more than 70 teams entered in the Calcutta. The targets were very wide and very fast. Rod told me that making the angles wider than normal is tough for some, but speed kills! I believe this shoot is still being run although I have not been there in a long time. I recall shooting at 2;30 in the morning and the local sheriff made two visits to the club that night!

Correct on all points. My two shooting partners Pat Owns and Dave Sawgert won that 2 man protection last week to the tune of $1600. About 3 hours north of our homes near Vandalia.

That's a nice hit rookieshooter, congrats! I'm glad to hear that shoot is still going strong. I guess that answers the question of the poll above. Looks like lots of shooters will enter a tourney with fast targets! I know where Pat lives and that is one heck of a drive for you guys. Please tell Pat that Don and Sharon said hi.

70 yard targets, one ounce loads, and Kolar doubles for shoot offs. That would separate the men from the boys. Sounds like a club fun shoot idea.

How many of you shooters would be ok with donating a few bucks to sweeten the pot for some added money at a shoot like this one will be? It would be great to be a part of the game even if we can not attend. Lets get something going, I will start the pot with a pledge of $100.00. Step up guys lets put this game back in the hands of competitors. Roger Coveleskie

Are you kidding? half of the trap population go fishing.after that.

Why do you think the bunker is not popular in the USA?

    You guested ,is too hard!

The ATA is good for slow motion shooters and boring for fast shooters.

If you crank up, the slow motion shooters go away, and the ATA close its doors.

I "guested" that this is another fishing expedition.

If you need me to post this in your native language I can use the google translator again for you.

why was the poll about target angle when the topic was target speed?

I seriously doubt a machine could be set to speed the targets up faster than any shotgun shells velocity .... To the point of making it far more of a challenge there is no doubt ... I have shot some wickedly fast targets at games but none of them were capable of out running that shot once its been dispatched ... Great test for eye / hand co ordination ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
