Winchester AA trap load shells hulls how many reloads?

How many reloads are you getting from the current AA red and gray hulls? Is it as much as the older types?

 

I get 3 of the newer hulls. I used to get 7 reloads.

 

I get as many or more than I was getting from the STS and Nitro 27's and they don't seem to split down the sides like the Remington's did when they were well used. I tried them when they were first introduced and didn't like them, the latest seem to be a great improvement.

 

Michael.......are you saying you get more reloads from a new style AA than you do STS and nitro 37's?

 

I've never tried Nitro 37's, but have reloaded many STS and Nitro 27's in the past and get longer hull life on the new AA's.

I load the newer AAs several times and they are fine.

 

As a former skeet shooter, I reloaded AA and found that I was getting 6+ reloads on my 20 /28/410 hulls.
In the game of trap I suspect that greater speed is needed and that would adversely affect the life of the hulls.Does that sound correct or am I blowing smoke. Please advise

 

i reload the AA HS hulls about 3 to 4 times and then get rid of them

 

I've seen people use them until the primer pocket starts to leak or until the mouth just won't hold a crimp.

 

I don't count how many times I reload a shell (AA's only) I inspect them after I shoot them and if they have a pin hole in the petals, they go into a "load once more and drop on the ground box."

 

The Red AA's are not as good as the Remington hulls for me. If I get any I reload one time and toss them

 

I don't like Remington hulls. They stick, jam and split in my Dillon. I just traded 3000 of them for AA's. But, you're right they do last longer.

 

It all depends on your components, and your loading techniques, a wad too long will really cut down on reloadability.
I use the Blue Windjammer 8 petal wads as they compress with the least resistance, which equals more reloads.

I am constantly picking up the once fired Federal Top Guns as they are straight walled hull, there are lots of them, I re-load them ONCE, and pitchem. The Remington Hulls I will load them 3 times and pitchem.

I reload the RIO's one time, they are also a straight walled hull and there lots of em.

My primer of choice is the RIO, Good Ignition, Large Flash hole, and have never had a failure to fire with them in hundreds of 1,000s. The primer is flush in the hull, never depresses like the Federals. Once you reload with em, you got to keep using them, and they are cheaper.
