Yeah, I know what you expected. Check out the kid standing behind her. Bet he got lumped up at school a couple times a week. OR he was such a bassazz that he could wear that outfit and nobody messed with him. He does have that "WTF are you looking at" stare going on. Flyersarebest, But I'm Still a Trap Shooter
The one thing I notice on a lot of the "vintage" pictures it that the stations were REALLY far apart compared to what they became. OOPS, I think I just hit on the reason so many Trapshooters are a little overweight. Yep, the stations are too close together. Bet you could burn off some calories shooting the 5 stations above.
Angus was probably his name. " Now Angus, you stay back there and be a good boy. While mother breaks every SOBing target they throw at this club." Good old Mom. Such a kindly person. Flyersarebest.
No concrete and a straight line across the field with 5 shooters. Boards for the shooting line! Soft dirt to stand on, what's not to love! Love these old trap shooting pictures! HAP
When you look closer at the picture you start to wonder just what in the heck they are shooting. I know you guys can't tear your eyes away from that number one shooter but check out the field. Besides the stations being farther apart, look out in front shooters 3, 4, and 5. It looks like the same type of station markers used at the feet of the shooters. Wonder how far that distance is. It looks longer than a yard. The woman on 1 and the guy on 3 both have their guns up. There was no story or info with the pic when I found it. She probably just said "lets see one" and the guy on three is just checking out the target. Flyersarebest
They are shooting Annie Oakley and are down to 3 shooters. The young kid standing behind lady shooter #1, well that kid would very likely put those high top boots up your you know what....... Oh, say the fellow way down at the end of the line, the one with the black hat and black suit on. He would fit in very well with our shooters in 2015, Kind of Plump.... The rest of the folks look pretty slim and trim except for the plump guy on the end. Now, you got to remember this was back in the day when folks worked hard and played hard. Birddog
Flyers, I collect old pics for my barn. With your permission may I copy that photo? or do you have a larger file for it?
One more question.... 'Behind lady shooter #1, what is that square post in the ground behind her. looks like a 2x4 with a hing pin at the top. looks like there is one behind each shoooter, but what are they for ???? some body has to know or have and idea... Birddog
fat guy is line judge, okay I will go along with that... but what are those posts behind each shooter for.... Birddog
I like these old pics, every time I look at them makes me wonder how they hit a target with them guns compared to what we have now. Rick
Times sure have changed. In all of these nostalgic photos everyone is dressed very nice. Many of the men wore suits and top hats. Today they wear flip flops, cutoff jean shorts and straw hats, if you're lucky.
You can copy away. I just go to google and type in "vintage trap shooting pictures" right click and save as.
Indeed. Why did Neil Winston drop the rule about mandatory corsets for female shooters? Damn him! -Gary
One of the better pigeon shooters in PA used to wear a pair of old cut off jeans, an old worn camo hat and NO shoes. Nice on those days it had rained and the mud was a couple inches deep. Fastest shot I ever saw. Killed 25 straight more than 20 times at last count and that was five or six years ago. Not a candidate for GQ magazine but man could he shoot. Only had one thing on his mind and that was to WIN. Flyersarebest
