BT-99 It was one of the first low cost shotguns that was built only for shooting trap. 1100's 870's and the Model 12 are right there with the biggest impact on the sport. Jim R
I WAS going to say Perrazi but after seeing Jim's choice and the reason for it I would have to agree with him. I shot one myself for a while when I wanted a single barrel. When I could afford one I moved to the TM1. In fact, that's the one in my avatar. Flyersarebest, But I'm Still a Trap Shooter
The Model 32 Remington did not inspire the K-32, the first K-32's were made with Remington receivers and were a direct copy of the original Model 32 . The first big change that was made in the old Remington design was when Miller went over and designed a better trigger. From the K-32 to the K-80 was an evaluation. The KS-5 is a completely different design. I have had the pleasure to own each one of these guns over the years and I still like the old K-32 combo the best. Jim R
Perazzi's, TM1 and MX8. Bonillas showed America what could be accomplished via his MX8 combo. While the BT's and Superposed's had an impact for a short period, Perazzi's changed the scene.
My opinion, The Winchester model 12, especially a Herb Orre Model 12, "A great gun tuned for shooting trap" Eddie
Remington 3200. It is a great gun and still popular for doubles. Very effective on singles and caps. It also has the fastest arch swing trigger made and being mechanical trigger helps keep it popular.
Not only the receiver, the internals of the first roughly 900 guns by Krieghoff had Remington parts in them. I have a Rem. 32 with a Miller trigger and a K-model 32 with K-80 internals. Both fine guns. Bulge.
I have to say it took a couple of guns, Model 12, 1100, 870, Browning Broadway, Win 101 combo, Browning BT-99, and then the Cheap Single BC Miroku, I owned one, so did a lot of early trapshooters help me on the name, brain fart. Dr.longshot
For very short while I think Dan Bonillas shot the DB-81 (MX-8 frame) everything else was with a MX-3. I could be wrong but the times I saw him shooting it was with a MX-3
Gary; Chas. Daly? Some good guns imported under that name, unlike the junk Kassnar imported after he bought the rights to muse the Daly name.
Ljutic 41, You are right Dan Bonillas shot an MX-3 Combo, the DB81 named aftr him he could not shoot it and went back to the MX-3
When he decided to make a career change and trapshooting was going to be it, he put down the model 12 and put an MX8 combo into play. This gun is what started his notice in the game and was soon to make him a legend. With this gun he started repeatedly breaking phenomenal handicap scores while other top shooters would only occasionally match him in those days. Then one day it was behind the car and he backed up and bent the barrel. The barrel was straightened but never the same for him. He then went to the MX3, briefly played with the DB81 and back to the 3. If memory serves he briefly played with a 10 as well.
For years around here when anyone would show up with a DB-81 they would get asked the big question. "If Dan Bonillas can't shoot one of those, what makes you think you can".
Model 12 Winchester, there for our first ATA Grand in 1923 and still pounding targets in the games played with speed, angle and distance thrown in. HAP
Winchester Model 12 has to be the front runner, there was a time if you didn't have one, you had to have one ... I shot a Model 12 for many years, listened to some friends and family and had to upgrade to a Perazzi ... MX-8, TM-1 , TMX, MX-2000 unsingle, Mx-2000/8 (top single) another TMX and so the story goes ... I spent a lot of money on guns over the years and wished many times over I would of stayed with my Model 12 (Pigeon) which I still have and shoot occasionally today ... Could of saved a bunch and even with all new shells been money ahead ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
