My proposal to improve trapshooting would be to have no pre-squadding. What would the outcome be. I read that was the way it was done when the sport was growing.
I see no problem with pre-squadding. We use it all the time for SCTP and AIM shoots. Also for local registered shoots we attend. When you have 7 or 8 squads of kids it makes it quicker and easier to get squads to the banks when you know ahead of time who is shooting where and approximate time.
Would you please elaborate on how your proposal would improve trapshooting; give examples. You're making a proposal to improve the sport but asking us what the outcome would be? What do you think it would be? After all, it is your proposal.
If you eliminate pre-squadding, then we also need to eliminate someone going to a big shoot and signing up for all the events the same day. I'm new to trap shooting. I also don't have that much spare money to drive up to a big shoot and stay in a hotel or trailer for the week. I have to drive up the day of the shoot and be put on a squad at that time. The pre-squadding helps me get a squad number of my choice. It could be early, later or middle. It's my choice. If we eliminate that ability, then we should all have to sign up the day and time of that event. That would be a nightmare.
I am guessing OP is using Indiana where banks etc are not given out until the night before or morning. I like the randomness and unpredictability. Under that premise the blue collar shooter is on the same footing.

...and while the sport was growing help was easier to come by than it was now and there were fewer categories to support. When the host clubs can find ways to assure that they will supply adequate help, adequate facilities and adequate technology to handle all the registration, classification and squading chores live and in person on opening day, your idea might fly. Until then...
