Forgive me if I vent a bit, but this really sucks. I am waiting on surgery for multiple tears in the meniscus of my right knee later this month, and I got a call yesterday from the Dr.'s office, telling me that my deductible is $XXXX, of which only a part has been covered, so they will not perform the surgery until I pay 1/2 of that amount (which I don't have) by next Wed., and then arrange to make payments for the rest. So, in order to come up with the required $XXX to have the surgery, I am forced to sell my back-up shotgun to come up with the money. It just rankles me that because of the BUSINESS of medicine, I am forced to make a decision on whether I want to be able to walk, or whether I want to shoot. I know, that's no choice. I tried shooting a week ago, and I could only shoot one round of trap, until it hurt too much to continue. So it HAS to be done. But it still rankles. For those who voted for Obamacare that helped to bloat an already over-expensive system, and destroy the good insurance coverage that we had, ...well, as a Christian, I can't say it, but you can fill in the words.
If you think that sucks you ain't seen nothing yet ... My wife's insurance went from $400 per month to almost $900 , the out of pocket increased to almost double what it was and the co pays are 5x's what they were per incident not annually ... We are checking to see if there is any coverage available but so far nothing looks good ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
BP Skeeter.... A word of advice. Call your insurance company. Do not take the word of the caregiver. I just went thru that.
Thanks for the advice, tsilvan. I did call, and what the Dr. is doing is part of the business nowadays. I'm just upset that it has gone from medical care to just plain greed.
