Well the membership of the SCTP has spoken and it looks like the SCTP made the right call in picking the Cardinal Center for its 2016 National Championship. Despite having problems with the registration system (system overwhelmed), in less the 48 hours of opening up for registration, the response has been astonishing!!!! Below are some numbers….

    As of 1:00pm 6/2/16
    Sporting Clays
Participated in the 2015 SCTP Sporting Clays Nationals – 825 Athletes
Already registered for 2016 SCTP Sporting Clays Nationals – 828

    Skeet
Participated in the 2015 SCTP Skeet Nationals – 831 Athletes
Already registered for 2016 SCTP Skeet Nationals – 777

    16 Yard Trap
Participated in the 2015 SCTP Trap Nationals – 2050 Athletes
Already registered for 2016 SCTP Trap Nationals – 1588

Kudos to the management of the SCTP and Cardinal Center for making this happen!!!!!!

On Paper it looks like the best thing that ever happened to the SCTP and Cardinal Center, all the best to all involved and in the competition ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

The SCTP participation has had a steady increase in athletes every year since it started.

I would imagine there will be more attending from the East and less from the West.

The numbers in the 200 singles event has averaged around 500 more shooters each year it was held at the WSRC.
About 2100 last year at the WSRC, so I would imagine around 2600 +/_ this yea.r

The move to the Cardinal from Sparta for this year had nothing to do with the numbers as it would not matter where the national tournament is held, there will be an increase in participants anyway.

The kids just want to shoot and they don't care where!

I can't wait, myself! Looking forward to it!

I agree, kids don't care. But parents and coaches do, I was losing parents to that 45 minute drive back and forth to the hotel each day.

When I shot the Gator Cup at Quail Creek in Florida, I was bombarded by questions about Cardinal. Best campsites, traps, where to eat, stores, shopping, if golf carts or UTVs are allowed, carryouts, etc, etec....Quail Creek supports an large active SCTP team (150 - 160 kids), and most are making the trip with their parents. One of the score keepers was a father of 2 SCTP shooters. Their "sub group" to the SCTP event will be 35 kids. This was his comment..."Have you ever tried to entertain 60 kids after shooting in the middle of no where?" This is not a slam to Sparta or the WRSC, but he said finding restuarants that would seat 30 let alone 10 were non-existant, and an hour drive with that many kids in the group with multiple cars was a logistical nightmare.

The WRSC isn't really set up for this. Adult camping and BBQ yes, but kids don't go to bed at 9:00.

For those that are camping, the campground does have a campsite curfew of 10:00 for any kids under 17, as well as an expectation for quiet campers.

There is an area for corn-hole, but it might be advisable to bring your own bean bags as when the office closes for the day, you get borrow them. Plus there are still horse-shoe stakes for the adults that still enjoy that. Again, might want to consider bringing horseshoes for the same reason as corn hole. Unless the office will allow you to hold onto them. I haven't had the time to try them but hope to this year, so I'll find out at the state shoot.
