Who ( On Here ) shoots PITA ???~~~How about some 'HONEST' Opinions !!!~~~Good or Bad~~~Compare PITA to the ATA !!!!~~~~(This ought to raise a little HELL !!! )
Garry These guys don't even shoot ATA how are you going to get them to shoot PITA? LOL No, I haven't had the pleasure of attending a PITA.
Come on, there has to be someone that shoots both PITA and ATA shoots. I would like to know the difference.
I really like PITA shoots !!!~~~I have met great people at both ATA and PITA. I personally think PITA is more "FUN" !!! Their leadership is all for "FAMILY" fun. We are anxious to get back to the PITA Grand !!!!! The PITA Grand is at "EVERGREEN GUN CLUB" LittleRock, Wa. A little SW. of Olympia~~~~July 19-25.~~Come shoot with us !!!~~~Gary and Judy Bulley.
Well gee unloader. We have pictures of your unloader devices but it seems you have failed to provide pictures of the important things.
I shoot some P.I.T.A., but no ATA, yet. I'm going to the Southern Grand this March. I've met some really great people at the shoots, and had a lot of fun too. Sue Brewer, And her husband Rusty, do a super job as the Secretary, and assistant for the P.I.T.A., not to mention, They usually get drafted by whatever club they are at, to Cashier, load traps, score etc. Nadene Pope, the president, isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, and do whatever it takes, to make a shoot go well. I knew She was good, when She showed up at Our little 2-trap club to shoot, and She had to drive an extra 300 miles to attend from shooting at another club, the day before, and then turn around and go back to attend the last day of shooting at that other club. Mike Mann is on Their executive committee, and from My dealings with Him, He is true blue. So Yeah, I'd say They have very good management, and do their best to give the shooters out here the best bang for the buck!
I'm pretty much like MR JJ, I would also like to know differences between the two. Do they have the big money shoots that were in the bygone days of the ATA or are their shoots pretty much like the ATA shoots we have now? How about the rules, lot different or pretty much the same between PITA and the ATA?
The PITA is more like what the ATA use to be, it is a place to see friends and have fun shooting. The people at PITA shoots seem to enjoy the shoot more, where at a ATA shoot a lot of people don't seem to have fun any more its all about having to win . To me the PITA promotes it as a sport, and a sport is something you are suppose to enjoy and have fun at. The ATA is more like if you don't win you can not be having fun. I think the PITA is more relaxed and fun because there is not as much money and people working to get All American points and sponsorship as the ATA. I have shot ATA since 1982 and PITA since 1987. I have had more fun at PITA shoots shooting than I have had a ATA shoots. Phillip Crenwelge Life member of both the ATA and PITA
That Grand Pacific, I guess they hold that in Olympia Washington when is it and if I'm a ATA shooter (A-23-C) would I have to shoot with a penalty if I attended?
Got this from the rule book on the PITA wen site http://shootpita.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/2015-16-Rulebook-large-format-copy-9.25.14.pdf At State/Provincial and the Grand Pacific Championships Tournaments all sub-juniors, juniors, senior and elders who have not shot at a minimum of 300 PITA registered 16-yard targets during the current and previous year combined shall be classified not less than Class "A". All others, including veterans and ladies, must have 500 PITA registered 16-yard targets during the same period of time, or must be classified not less than Class ‘A”. At State/Provincial shoots and at the Grand Pacific, at the discretion of the State/Provincial Board of Directors, or in the case of the Grand Pacific, the PITA Executive Committee, the requirement for the stated number of PITA registered targets may be satisfied by the substitution of a like number of registered ATA targets. The use of this waiver shall be clearly stated in the program. Shooters unable to present adequate records of ATA registered targets will be classified according to the regular PITA Rules identified above Hope it helps Jim R
Phillip is right on !!! ( He usually is )~~PITA is more fun with less BS. I am 77 and it pisses me off that I can't shoot Jr. Gold because that only includes ages from 18 to 75 !!!---I had 10,000 ATA points and a Dollar, went for a cup of coffee and they only took the Dollar !!!~~Here are a few PITA pictures from Idaho SS in Twin Falls~~~Singles 198~~~Won Hcp.~97~Sr.Vet on Dbles !!! Great Fun !!! The PITA Grand is at "EVERGREEN GUN CLUB"--LittleRock, Wa. ( A little SW of Olympia ) July 19--25.~~Come shoot with us !!!~~Gary and Judy Bulley.
I'm missing the point I guess. Some are mad at the ATA because there is no big money but people like PITA because there is less money? PITA is more relaxing because there aren't people shooting for points but the people I shoot with in ATA don't shoot for points either. It just seems to me it's not the organization it's the attitude of the people. Gary (the unloader), If you went with that trophy from PITA and a dollar to get a cup of coffee what would the take?
Gary Here are a few old photos I had in my file of Evergreen Gun Club and the Grand Pacific about 3 years ago.
I joined ATA 3 years ago, I shoot local with only a few trips outside the area so my ATA targets are quite limited. There is a lot to learn in the world of ATA beyond "stand here, watch the bird, break the bird". Class, yardage, options, etc and I admit if I shot more it would be less complicated. I joined PITA about two months ago to shoot their MULTIPLEX. Paid the membership, shot the event, they use your ATA yardage as your handicap and there is money to be made without a lot of costs. I had my membership card, rule book, etc in about 2 weeks. At this point for a new shooter the world of PITA is much more simple and relaxed......... Larry
36 Traps but I think they are olny using 24 now. Traps point NE so no event until 10:00 AM for the Grand Pacific. Parking for about 200 RV's at the Grand Pacific. Evergreen Sportsmens Web Page http://www.shootesc.com/
One of the things about the PITA is it is still the same as it was 30 years ago, they don't change much. The ATA has done a lot of change in the last few years and trap shooters don't handle change very good. The PITA is a small organization and seem to be happy with it that way and thats good, the ATA is a lot bigger organization and have been making changes to try and help it grow, some good some bad but thats the way life is not everything turn out the way every one wants it. As you can see from some of the post on here that there are people that don't like change. They want it to be like it use to be, but it will not be like that any more. Now if you want to know about the difference in the targets there are none they fly the same in both ATA and PITA, one is no harder to hit than the other and most of the rules are the same. There are more categories of shooters in the ATA than the PITA. Personally I hope both organizations do good and grow, the last thing any of use need to to have either one go down. Phillip Crenwelge
Phillip I have known you for what, 30 years? You are right on with what you said. I have shot some ATA target but not many. It's not because I don't like the ATA it just that no clubs in this area put on ATA shoots. The PITA and the ATA do have a cross registration agreement, so you can go to a PITA shoot and have your targets registered in the ATA from that shoot at most, but not all PITA shoots. One of the best things in the PITA is the way they handle the youth memberships. When you pay your dues you can sponsor a youth. I don't think any Junior has had to pay dues in the past 5 years. There is a fund set up and their dues are paid out of that. Washington State PITA has had a program for a number of years where juniors get their first 500 targets every year for half price. I'm with Phillip, I hope both the PITA and the ATA do well and continue to grow every year Jim R

How close is the shot screen? How do the birds look in different types of weather conditions against the screen?
Looks like the screen should pretty much block a head wind. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Seems like cheat'in, but I understand it's the same for everyone. Still don't think I like it.
We will have "THE UNLOADER" trailer at the PITA Grand, selling SHELL CUTTERS, BARREL GAUGES and BARREL GAUGE SETS. All at ""POPULAR"" Prices !!!
Out here in the Pacific Northwest it rains- a lotttttttttt! Which means that a lot of clubs, have streams and a lot of runoff on their property. The various environmental agencies really frown on any lead cotamination that might migrate into streams, or onto other property owners land. Throw in the fact that there are a lot of endagered salmon stocks around here, well You get the idea. With lead shot now at a new high-priced normal, it is starting to be economiclly viable to put up these screens. We are doing a 30 year range plan this spring, and one of the components of it, will be a shot screen. This is a 2 trap club, but because of various water/runoff issues, will probably have to be done to insure that the club will be here long into the future. A lot of times, Our clubs management, has to balance the members needs versus enviromental concerns. Trust me a Department of Environmental Quality investigtion into Your club is not fun. J. Webb.
What are you saying? It rains a lotttttttttttttttt. It's not raining today, and it didn't rain yesterday. The weather report says"no rain tomorrow". I was thinking about setting out the sprinklers so my lawn wouldn't turn brown. Three days without rain here is a drought. I would talk more but I'm going out to freshen up my tan. Jim
