Routine "Murder"?

Yesterday I had what some may refer to as a "moment of clarity".
(Quentin Tarantino; Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction diner scene; best scene ever in my opinion...)

Like it or not, I have become the lead-off shooter for almost every event I shoot. Granted, I am not squadding for the Grand American but the point here is that's just where I seem to end up.
At first I thought nothing of it, 25 birds, 25 shells, just shoot. Simple enough. Then I started thinking (I know, bad thing to do) and wondered if it would be better to start on post 5 then 1 so I get the two "hardest" stations out of the way. Think about it, smoke all ten from posts five and one then the rest should be cake right? Depends on the shooter I guess.

    Back to the point...

I heard myself say something that after hearing my words really stopped me in my tracks. At one of the small clubs I frequent the discussion was about who wants what station. It was practice but that topic comes up often. I walked up and signed up on post one just as I have many times. I said aloud to anyone that was within ear-shot, "why doesn't anyone ever sign up on post one...its always blank, for me I prefer post one since it totally screws my rhythm walking from post five to one".

    KA-BOOM!

All of a sudden I had my subconscious mind controlling my mouth. I had not once considered that this was the reason I have slowly but surely been the lead-off shooter for most of my shooting career since coming back to the sport.

    What "murders" your routine?

Station one is the easiest for me but I prefer to start on two and that gives me the opportunity to watch 5 targets and adjust my hold points according to what the wind and background are giving me. (and with one being the easiest, it also gives me a chance to make up for the misses on station five)

Interesting! I too find one the easiest and therefor a confidence booster.
Except for Friday night...Friday night was not good. Missed the first bird out. So much for the long-run.

I lead off also, then I don't have to make the walk of shame from 1 to 5. I like to lead off. Rick

I can't consistently count to 5 so I try not to lead off.

I like post one, cause I can't count. When the targets quit coming out, you are done. Although I have shot six on a station or two.
